He could form a formidable partnership alongside Agbonlahor, we all saw his quality alongside Rooney.

They have had a fee of £4m accepted. Heskey will lead them to 6th behind Everton. :moon:

He's an improvement on Harewood, not sure how much he could offer Villa though or if he'll fit in with their style of play.

O'Neill going English again. :woo:

lol, hardly will be popular with the fans. Not a srtriker a team with CL aspirations should be buying, although prob will get 3 goals

Not even decent as backup Ricky?

Christ knows why he'd leave Wigan and damage his England hopes...

If he wanted him for backup he could of waited until the summer and saved £4m. Heskey is useful at best, the concern would be Villa go too long too soon to Heskey.

Before chrimbo, it was apparently a 'done deal' that he was coming to us in the transfer window..I wasn't excited by the prospect..For the life of me i couldn't understand how he'd fit into our set-up with a fit Torres and Rafa's preference for 4-4-1-1..Admittedly, during his first stint at Anfield, his unselfish attitude (cough) infront of goal helped to cement a great partnership with a then 'speedy' Mickey Owen playing off his shoulder..But would it of worked the same with Nando? i doubted it..

What would it of done to our style of play? The only way i could see Heskey being effective in our team, was to play quick long hollywood passes from defence (shudders), bypassing the 'Holy' trinity of Gerrard/Masch and Xabi..Not summat i was looking forward too.

I reckon its much the same scenario for Villa..They have pace in abundance which would scare the beejesus out of the best defenders in the world, but with Heskey as pointman imo that potent weapon would be blunted to a degree.

Heskey seems to me to be most effective holding the ball up with his back to goal, then laying the ball off to peeps going passed him..If Villa dont play the ball upto him quickly ie from defence/goalkeeper, a lot of his game will be negated because Young/Agbon/Milner will aready be passed him..Alright, Villa can still mix up the play with him in the side, spread it wide, play through midfield etc.. But will they be getting the best out of him?? i reckon not...and will they have to adapt their style too much to accomodate him?? i reckon so.

Ok i hear what about Carew? Yep similiar player off sorts, big, strong, flick ons etc.. I think he brings more to the table though (when fit)..Good feet, better positioning, better header and crucially...he can score goals, summat Heskey cant consistently do (apart from 1 season at leicester and us)

Nope..Heskey not for us or Villa imo.
Adversity causes some teams to break; others to break records.

Yep he is most effective with his back to goal. I'd have thought he's only been brought in to add a bit of a physical presence for when Carew isn't fit. I guess Villa's speed demon tactics wont work all of the time so they need something different plus they don't have a link striker like that I don't think.
