Barcelona's board are preparing to sell Thierry Henry in the summer and replace him with Franck Ribery or Yoann Gourcuff despite Pep Guardiola being happy with the Frenchman, according to a report.

The Blaugrana directors are not as convinced by the former Arsenal forward's performances even in an improved second season at the club and are considering cashing in on him.

AS believe that Henry will only be able to stay at Camp Nou if Guardiola insists upon it, but if assurances are given that either Ribery or Gourcuff will join then he may agree to a sale.

Barcelona paid €27 million to land the former Monaco and Juventus star from Arsenal and would hope to recoup a large percentage of that by offering him to Premier League clubs.

Henry has improved markedly this term after enduring a tough start to life in the Catalan capital and has formed an impressive trident with Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o.

The trio have scored almost 50 goals between them this term and that despite Henry rarely reproducing the form that made him so famous at Highbury.

With a contract until 2011, the 31-year-old could insist on staying, especially if he knows Guardiola still likes him, and because he has admitted in the past that he would not want to play for another English team.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. Barca will go after Villa or Van Persie in the summer I think.

he can come villa if he wants :p

i think its likely that barca will continue their pursuit for ribery, would fit in well with their style of play imo aslong as he doesnt want to be the center of attention like ronaldinho did. or they could give hleb a run in the team, not really heard of him much since his move except the odd cup game.

Never been a fan of Hleb.

Has Henry been considered a flop then? I've not followed La Liga for a couple of years since I stopped getting sky, but thought he'd done alright this season, got a hattrick a while back I think.

Yes a big flop jake. He gets a run out in the Cup games though.

@Pete:
No they hadn't. Real practically had him before the Euros but forked things up.

I wasn't convinced by Hleb going to Barcelona in the first place. He has magic feet but... an AM who doesn't like to shoot? At Barca??

I've watched Henry with Barca - he's playing well compared to last season but I wouldn't say he's a necessity to them and he's getting on a lil bit, for a striker who uses his pace.

Hleb needed to stay at Arsenal to make full use of his attributes which as stacie says do not fit into the Barcelona system.

Barcelona ready to launch bid for Torres - Metro

Barcelona are preparing a bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres in the summer.

The Spanish giants see the Reds star as the ideal replacement for ageing forward Thierry Henry and Samual Eto'o.

Henry will be 32 this summer while Eto'o, who almost left the Nou Camp last season, has yet to agree a new deal with his current contract due to expire in 2010.

Inter Milan have shown interest in Eto'o and are keeping an eye on the situation.

Dont see why he should be considered a flop, think he was their top scorer last season and still got something like 12 in under 20 league games this season. Wasnt his fault they keep playing him on the wing. Trouble is, who is going to play £20m+ for Hhim. He will be 32 at beggining of next season. Its a lot of money to ask, and think he is on a big salary at Barca as well. I can see him sitting it out their unless someone comes close to matching it. Dont think he would want to join another top Prem team anyway, as would pee the gooners off, so all it leave is a smaller Prem team, and he wouldnt want that/they couldnt afford him (with exception of M City)

Poss go to Italy or States if he goes. Still think he is poss the best foriegner player every to grace the Prem.
