Sampdoria defender Hugo Campagnaro looks set to become the latest player to join Napoli, following Luca Cigarini and Fabio Quagliarella.

The 29-year-old Argentine, who has been in Italy for six years, will cost £5m and Sampdoria will also get 50 per cent of Daniele Mannini in return.

Genoa have agreed to buy talented Moroccan midfielder Houssine Kharja from Siena in a cash plus players deal.

The Rossoblu will pay £3m for Kharja and also send Gianluca Pegolo and Manuel Coppola the other way.

Kharja was a revelation this season, scoring five goals and setting up countless others in 36 appearances for the Robur.

He becomes Genoa's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Sergio Floccari, Hernan Crespo and Pele.

Former Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved is being tipped to return to former club Lazio, just weeks after being released by the Turin-based side.

Nedved had announced his retirement earlier this season, but his agent has claimed that his client is not finished playing just yet. It now seems like the former Czech international will be heading back to Lazio.

Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Claudio Lotito met with the player's agent, Mino Raiola, on Thursday and the men spoke about a possible deal. Voices claim Lotito has already spoken to Nedved to highlight his plans.

Raiola has now claimed there are negotiations with Lazio over the midfielder.

"It's true, I have met with Lotito," he declared. "We have to wait ten to 15 days. Pavel is on holiday and he is resting. We will decide everything once he returns."

Nedved has not made a decision just yet, but it is said Raiola expects his man to play on for another season. Reports suggest the Aquilotti are ready to offer 'La Furia Ceca' a one-year deal.

Versatile Real Madrid full-back Royston Drenthe only needs to add his signature to a contract to make his loan move to Fiorentina official.

Il Corriere Fiorentino understands Real Madrid and Fiorentina have reached an agreement, whereby Drenthe will spend next season in Italy.

The Viola will then have an option to buy Drenthe once the arrangement expires next summer.

Drenthe currently earns £1.5m a season in Spain and Fiorentina will pay around 75 per cent of those wages over the next year.

AC Milan are considering making a move for Real Madrid's Fernando Gago to bolster their midfield should Andrea Pirlo be allowed to leave the club this summer, according to a report.

Chelsea are said to be interested in the Italian playmaker, but a swap deal could be arranged with Los Merengues that would see the two players switch clubs.

Kaka has already called for Pirlo to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu if Milan do want to sell him and a move to Spain may appeal to the 30-year-old.

After eight years with the Rossoneri, Pirlo is widely tipped to leave as club president Silvio Berlusconi revealed that offers would be considered for his services.

That has led to speculation about who would replace him and while Felipe Melo has been mentioned, El Mundo Deportivo think that Gago is being lined up by the Milan hierarchy.

Madrid are willing to listen to offers for all but three of their current first team squad members and the Argentinian could go for the right price or in a swap deal

 pirlo is not the player he once was but my god when he is 76 years old he will be better than gago
