According to French publication Le Progres, Inter are ready to table a €40 million bid for Olympique Lyon star Karim Benzema.

The young French sniper has averaged a goal every two matches this season and the Nerazzurri are reportedly keen to bring in the Les Gones striker to strengthen their frontline.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that the Frenchman will stay at the Stade Gerland for another season, but a lucrative offer from Inter patron Massimo Moratti could persuade him to let go of the French international.

The offer from the Milanese giants should even be enough to fend off English champions Manchester United, who were considering the 21-year-old as a replacement for the Real Madrid bound Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report adds that more light will be shed on the striker's situation within the next few days, as these European heavy weights battle to secure his signature. Overall, Benzema found the back of the net 23 times this season in all competitions.

Fergie needs to make his move quick if Inter are after him <_<

well what else can united do? they need a young top striker. the two best in the world are taken so they need to go for 2nd best before someone else gets him. they are in desperate need of a goal scorer now

i doubt its true. inter never showed any interest in him before. he can be just as good as torres and villa in a better club then lyon.

The striker we need must have be an aerial threat as well, like Benzema. With CR gone, we have zero threat in the air with short, shorter and lazy forkwit limpwrist up front now
