Going To Make You An Offer You Cant Refuse.
|
Some songs have fantastic lyrics its plain for all to see, I was wondering (and its slow as fork on here) what peoples favourite or most special lyrics were? Maybe a song played at the married folks wedding had some lyrics that made it special for you, (or more than likely the better half). |

Lyrics are very important for me in a song... And obviously I have some favourite songs on that account... I kinda like abstract lyrics as well as the more conventional ones... I love the atmosphere the lyrics of street spirit of Radiohead evoke... Especially this part Rows of houses, all bearing down on me I can feel their blue hands are touching me I love the lyrics of under the bridge... They are on the one hand very sad, on the other very much an acceptance of Faith.... I drive through her streets cause she's my companion, I walk through her hills, cause she knows who I am She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy, And I'll never worry, now that is a lie And the very powerful lyrics of The Dresden Dolls 'Half jack' (which are autobiographical too) half jack for my father half underwater i'm half my mother's daughter a fraction's left up to dispute the whole collection half off the price they're asking in the halfway house of ill repute half accidental half pain full instrumental i have a lot to think about you think they're joking? you have to go provoke him... i guess it's high time you found out it's half biology and half corrective surgery gone wrong you'll notice something funny if you hang around here for too long ago in some black hole before they had these pills to take it back i'm half jill and half jack two halves are equal a cross between two evils it's not an enviable lot but if you listen you'll learn to hear the difference between the halfs and the half nots and when i let him in i feel my stitches getting sicker i try to wash him out but like she said:the blood is thicker i see my mother in my face but only when i travel i run as fast as i can run but jack comes tumbling after.... and when i'm brave enough and find a clever way to kick him out and i'm so high not even you and all your love could bring me down on 83rd he never found the magic words to change this fact: i'm half jill and half jack i'm halfway home now half hoping for a showdown cause i'm not big enough to house this crowd it might destroy me but i'd sacrifice my body if it meant i'd get the jack part OUT see jack run..... I will probably think of some other later Edited by dutchmcfc, Jul 7 2009, 08:32 PM.

What do you think those lyrics mean Dutch? And Maj why those songs, and is it the whole song or do you find parts of the lyrics that you find the best? |

In the case of radiohead, I think the meaning is not as relevant... Their lyrics (or poetry as I like to call it) is more a way of creating an atmosphere and a feeling.... I think utter disconnectedness with the world around you nicely sums up the feeling Under the bridge is basically a ballad for LA... the part I took I find very powerful, He describes the city as a living thing, and as is said it's maybe the only thing that loves him... And he loves it back... Life is not made anymore easier for that fact though (hence the line '.. she kisses me windy and I'll never worry now that is a lie) The Dresden Dolls song is about the internal torture and struggle, of having part of the personality of a very unpleasant parent.... Another song that shook because of it's lyrics... I was a adolescent at the time, and this kinda politics sounded great to me at the time Rage against the Machine -Take the power back (ignore the ughs )Bring that s**t in! Uggh! Yeah, the movement's in motion with mass militant poetry Now check this out...uggh! In the right light, study becomes insight But the system that dissed us Teaches us to read and right So called facts are fraud They want us to allege and pledge And bow down to their God Lost the culture, the culture lost Spun our minds and through time Ignorance has taken over Yo, we gotta take the power back! Bam! Here's the plan Motherfork Uncle Sam Step back, I know who I am Raise up your ear, I'll drop the style and clear It's the beats and the lyrics they fear The rage is relentless We need a movement with a quickness You are the witness of change And to counteract We gotta take the power back Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back The present curriculum I put my fist in 'em Eurocentric every last one of 'em See right through the red, white and blue disguise With lecture I puncture the structure of lies Installed in our minds and attempting To hold us back We've got to take it back Holes in our spirit causin' tears and fears One-sided stories for years and years and years I'm inferior? Who's inferior? Yeah, we need to check the interior Of the system that cares about only one culture And that is why We gotta take the power back Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back Hey yo check, we're gonna have to break it, break it, break it down Awww s**t! Uggh! And like this...uggh! Come on, yeah! Bring it back the other way! The teacher stands in front of the class But the lesson plan he can't recall The student's eyes don't perceive the lies Bouning off every forking wall His composure is well kept I guess he fears playing the fool The complacent students sit and listen to some of that Bullshit that he learned in school Europe ain't my rope to swing on Can't learn a thing from it Yet we hang from it Gotta get it, gotta get it together then Like the motherforkin' weathermen To expose and close the doors on those who try To strangle and mangle the truth 'Cause the circle of hatred continues unless we react We gotta take the power back Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back No more lies No more lies No more lies No more lies No more lies No more lies No more lies No more lies Uggh! Yeah! Take it back y'all Take it back, a-take it back A-take it back y'all, come on! Take it back y'all Take it back, a-take it back A-take it back y'all, come on! Uggh! Yeah! |

Any song sang by Jack's Mannequin. I heard Andrew McMahon speaking about how he writes his lyrics and what he wants from them and he said he will only ever tell enough for people to understand what he is singng about but not so much that the songs can't have its own meaning to the person listening to them. |

Hold the person that you love closely if they're next to you The one you love, not the person that'll simply have sex with you Appreciate them to the fullest extent, and then beyond 'Cause you never really know what you got, until it's gone This is part of an Immortal Technique song, its a rap song. I can post the full song if you like, its like a story. |

And I absolutely love this song by the chili peppers... The music along with the lyrics make for one of the most relaxing songs evere imo Red Hot Chili Peppers- Walkabout I think I'll go on a walkabout And find out what it's all about - and that ain't hard Just me and my own two feet In the heat I've got myself to meet A detective of perspective I I need to try and get a bigger eye - open wide bloodwood flowers in my gaze walkabout in a sunny daze - do me now On a walkabout You could do it in the city You could do it in a zone You could do it in a desert You could do the unknown On a walkbout High desert skies are what I spy So fly - you've got to wonder why The stingrays must be fat this year Moving slow in my lowest gear The digirido original man with a dream I believe the Aborigine On a walkabout You could do it with a shuffle You could do it with a stroll You could do it with a stride You could do the unknown ON A WALKABOUT A walk could cure most all my blues bare feet or in my two shoes - 1, 2, I think I'll go on a walkabout Find out what it's all about - can't hurt to try Use your legs to rock it wide Take a ride to the other side |

[Usher:] Peace up! A Town Down! [Lil' Jon:] Yeah, Ok! Lil' Jon! [Usher:] Yeah, Yeah Yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeaah Yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeaah [Usher (Verse 1):] I'm in the club with my homies, tryna get a lil V-I, keep it down on the low key, cause you know how it feels. I said shorty she was checkin up on me, from the game she was spittin my ear you would think that she knew me. So we decided to chill Conversation got heavy, she had me feelin like she's ready to blow! (Watch Out!, Watch Out!) She saying come get me, come get me, So I got up and followed her to the floor, she said baby lets go, When I told her I said [Usher (Chorus):] Yeah (yeah) Shorty got down and said come and get me Yeah (yeah) I got so caught up I forgot she told me Yeah (yeah) Her and my girl used to be the best of homies Yeah (yeah) Next thing I knew she was all up on me screaming: Yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeaah Yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeah yeah, Yeaah [Usher (Verse 2):] Shes all up in my head now, got me thinking that it might good idea to take her with me, Cause she's ready to leave. Now I gotta keep it real now, cause on a one-to-ten she's a certified twenty, and that just aint me. Cause I don't know if I take that chance just where is it gonna lead, But what I do know is the way she dance makes shorty alright with me. The way she getting low! I'm like yeah, just work that out for me. She asked for one more dance and I'm Like yeah, how the hell am I supposed to leave? And I said [Chorus] [Lil' Jon:] Luda! [Ludacris (Verse 3):] Watch out! My outfit's ridiculous, In the club lookin' so conspicuous. And Rowl! These women all on the prowl, if you hold the head steady I'm a milk the cow. Forget about the game I'm a spit the truth, I won't stop till I get em in they birthday suits. So gimmie the rhythm and it'll be off with they clothes, then bend over to the front and touch your toes. I left the jag and I took the roles, if they aint cutting then I put em on foot patrol. How you like me now, when my pinky's valued over three hundred thousand, Lets drank you the one to please, Ludacris fill cups like double d's. Me and Ush once more and we leave em dead, we want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed to say [Chorus] [Ludacris (Bridge):] Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat make ya booty go (clap) Take that and rewind it back, Ursher got the voice make ya booty go (clap) Take that and rewind it back, Ludacris got the flow make ya booty go (clap) Take that and rewind it back, Lil' Jon got the beat make ya booty go (clap) Chooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
