John Terry reportedly told Roman Abramovich that he wants to talk to Manchester City about a possible £50m move. The Chelsea captain met with the club's Russian owner on Saturday afternoon and - according to reports in several Sunday papers - told him that he wants the chance to discuss a move to the world's richest club. The Sunday Times reports that Terry was told that the club would not match City's offer of £250,000 a week, and that he would have to hand in a transfer request to engineer a move north. Abramovich is allegedly willing to make Terry the highest-paid player at the club but will not pay him significantly more than current high earner Frank Lampard. City apparently remain confident that they will sign Terry, with a £5m signing-on fee sweetening the deal, according to the News of the World. They also suggest that any money recouped from the sale of Terry would be ploughed into a move for AC Milan's Alexandre Pato. |

Will never happen. He has said on record many times that he wants to win the Champions League, if City manage to get into the Champions League this season which they will not do, they will definitely need a few years experience once there to win it as proven by Chelseas failure to win it despite their millions. Terry is 28 now, 29 this year. His best chances for silverware for the remainder of his career is at Chelsea and he knows it. |

Terry if he moves, but Man City it's aimed at, hell-bent on ruining football with unearned money. Any success they get will be plastic and everyone knows it. John Terry is one of my favourite players. |

Chelsea never did that did they? So really they'd just be getting a taste of their own medicine. This is just paper rubbish though on a slow news day. Probably come from the story that Terry wanted a meeting with the people in charge to see what was happening with the direction of the club. |

bit unfair to have a pop at the player from a report in NOTW tbh. Amazed if Terry moves, wouldn't make any sense. EDIT: Having just gone through the NOTW, other 'exclusives' are: Latoya (Columbo) Jackson knows who killed MJ.. David Beckham proves that no men should ever wear Speedos.. Jordan and Peter Andre are bickering over the split.. Jack Tweedy has been putting it about.. Chelsea are gonna bid 50m plus Carvalho and Deco for Imbrahimovic ![]() Defoe is nobbing another D list celeb. That, ladies and gentlemen, sums up this paper (isn't there a war of sorts still going on?) |

Believe me, I was probably the biggest Chelsea hater when they splahed cash ridiculously. However, they were already a Champions League club, not a midtable club, and they didn't make the ridiculous offers City are making. Yes they spent millions on Essien, Shevchenko, Drogba etc., but these players were all making a step up in their career, bar maybe Shevchenko, and their prices were reasonable. Abramovich to his credit didn't go too hollywood in spending, compared to a midtable club bidding millions for the best players in the world. Football has officially gone crazy. |
