Would Terry get the same power over referees at City though? He always seems to get decisions his way after he goes right up to the referee and gets away with it... every season he does it at Ewood Park and gets away almost always without punishment for tackles and backchat to the referees.

But there r certain players that u kinda just expect to be loyal. Esp the ones that r in late 20s and have been at the club all their lives. Not many, i agree, but just the odd few scattered amongst clubs that somehow, u expect to have loyalty to the club.........................it will blow me away if JT does move, but in todays world, who the hell knows. Unless JT knocks this on the head soon, he could find his fan status at the club totally disappearing. Players just dont want to hand in transfer requests, because if they do, they lose their % of the transfer fee. |

Players on the wages that Premiership footballers are on owe a lot more loyalty to clubs really. He is taking a definite step backwards as he won't be challenging for CL or Premiership trophies next season and arguably the season after too if he goes to City and he hasn't got too many years left in him at the very top of the game. He's in his prime at the minute and will start to feel the effects of age in not too many seasons time. |

To be totally honest, i dont agree that majority of player owe any loyalty to a club. They r just employees, and the club would be quick to dump them if they didnt perform. Its just the odd few, the ones that have been with clubs for 10/15 yrs that i think ,may owe something back. |

I think players owe more loyalty than a lot show. The ones who go to a club and were a huge risk for a club, then become a success and immediately seek a move to a bigger club should show a little more loyalty. That's not to say they should spend a lifetime at the club, but its a bit of a mercenary like attitude to have one good season and request a move away. That happens more at lesser clubs than Chelski. The vast majority of players are indeed okay but sometimes more loyalty ought to be shown, and captains ought to be setting the example for this loyalty. |

Can't think who you are talking about there but I agree with the sentiment. If these stories weren't true then i'd have expected Terry to come out and say something by now tbh.

I'm on about players such as Cruz with Rovers But there are other examples too where players have one or two good seasons after a gamble has been taken on them and then move on immediately.I think the whole Terry thing is a pipedream for City and Hughes, who made a cheeky offer and then silly papers like The Sun and NoTW took the story up and kept on with it. Could be true though, stranger things have happened. |

it's a 2 way thing; When clubs had the power, they didn't show loyalty to the player and it's just vice versa now. The money in the game has basically prevented loyalty. Previously the testimonial and the £000s that generated meant a lot and made a difference, and a player gave you loyalty. Now 1 contract and signing on fee more than sets you up for life, so there is no need to slog it out at the same club for 10 years and that all important testimonial. |

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has forcefully affirmed this afternoon that Blues skipper John Terry, heavily linked with mammoth money moves to Manchester City in recent days, will not be sold by the Londoners. According to Kenyon, Terry is literally priceless, with no offer City could possibly make being large enough to tempt the club into selling the centre-back. Terry was picture alongside new manager Carlo Ancelotti in publicity shots with the club today, lending some weight to Kenyon's assertions that the England international is not for sale. "He is not for sale at any price," Kenyon is reported by Sky Sports News to have said. This affirmation echoes that of Ancelotti's last week, when the Italian stated that Terry would be Chelsea captain "forever". Terry himself has, so far, been conspicuously silent about the potential switch, adding fuel to the fires of speculation that a concrete offer from the Citizens would be soon be forthcoming. |

i would be worried if city got terry, he would make their defence 10 times better. still cant see it happening hes 29, realistically r city going to win the CL in the next 3 years??? he is at the club that is currently the favourites to win the league, surely he will go for the cups rather than personal wealth. he must be worth at least £5m by now and when he retiers from playing will have earned £10m after tax. then he could become a coach at chelsea and still bring in the moeny |

I have no idea why people rate him highly... There are defenders that are waaaay better than him. Imo he's just a tad better than Richards. His offensive acumen is better than his defensive one.. Outside the top 4 hangeeland, cuellar, woodgate, king and possibly melchiot are all better |
