Changing my tune since 2008.
Gotta beat Cattermole as a replacement for Alonso anyway, hasn't he? :p

Papers will link Liverpool with players similar to Xabi Alonso at present. Aquilani is an obvious direct replacement if Xabi left

he is but this is the first i have heard of rafa being after him considering the amount that we would have to pay for him as well. it probably would take up all the money we sold alonso for

Exactly.

I'd be expecting Rafa to be raiding La Liga for an Alonso replacement if he does go though. That's where most of his signings seem to come from.

still nothing direct to be sure on, however going on this suggestion then Alonso would definately be one his way. IF we sold Alonso for £25-30 million and bought Aquillani for £15 million it leaves us with a bit of cash to play with......

no. i have looked on the roma website and theres nowt there but with it being on sky sports it started me thinking

£15m for him and £21m for silva thats £36m. he would only really need £6-10m to complete those 2. its a long shot but you never kno

its possible, then again we could end up with neither and Lucas taking up Alonso's place, god knows!

i hope not jimmy. i think lucas would be a hell of a lot better, if he was able to play as a box to box midfielder

Luciano Spalletti “we have an abundance of midfielders and probably one player too many in that position.”

could be possible
