IMO it depends on Arsenal as much as City, City have some good quality and in depth. But it depends how long it takes the players to gel, if they are happy sitting on the bench etc when they are not picked. You have to remember that there will be some big egos there now.

Also if Arsenal have a poor season/have lots of injuries and City have a top season I can see City having a chance of breaking the top 4. But im sure Everton will be there along with Spurs and possibly Villa also.

personally I think it's really a bit premature to say we'll challenge for fourth spot, all the new players will have to be settled in, and though we have quality AND some squad depth I think it's a bit optimistic to think we would break the top 4.. I think the top 6 is completely realistic... anything better would be a pleasant bonus imo...

I dont think its premature, you have good depth in the squad now, all be it you need maybe a few top defenders but besides that all over the pitch you have more than adequate cover.
The biggest problem could be keeping them all happy like I mentioned with the egos.
I agree it will take time for them to settle though.

Yeah we have the players now, but the time it will take for the players to settle in will cost us too many points tbh... the season after that is a completely different story :D

The ego's will always be a problem, and managing those (for any club, especially a big one) trhe biggest and most important job of any manger... I have faith in Hughes on that front, but he'll have to prove me right first though...

If think u is the man to take you forward, ubut have to ve a good season for him to keep his job IMO. I believe with you signing PL players it shouldnt take aslong for them to settle, its just about keeping the egos happy.
I also think your chances will depends on how Arsenal fare, as they have quite a small squad IMO, if they get a few injuries again I can imagine yourselves, Everton, Spurs and possibly Villa getting very close to Arsenals total points accumulation.

Who would you line up as your 1st 11 now then Spanky? Lets say Adebayor has signed for arguments sake.

Honestly I'm not quite sure, cause we have so many strikers now but I'll give it a try... I'm guessing we'll play 4-2-3-1, but with the players we now have we might well play differently.

...................................Given......................................

Richards................Kompany.........Onouha.................Bridge

........................De Jong..............................................
.......................................Barry...................................

SWP..........................Ireland/Tevez*.....................Robinho/Petrov

.........................RSC/Bojinov/Adebayor.........................

*If Tevez he'd play just behind the striker, not on the midfield....
I think I'll know more about what formation we'll play come saturday, since the pre-season really kicks off then with a game vs the Orlando Pirates (South Africa)

I guess 4-4-2 with Barry with either De Jong or Ireland next to him (depending on the opponent) with Tevez and RSC/ade up top would work too I guess

Looks good but IMO the defence still looks a tad dodgy. Kompany no complaints, Richards though and Onuaha, I have my doubts about. Onuaha looks an exciting prospect but Richards just seems to be a bulldozer now IMO.

yup defence looks not quite there yet, especially with kompany out... Richards could be replaced with zabaleta, and I really really rate Onouha especially because of how he played last season... wen need a CB coming in, But then again Hughes has said this already, and I'm sure we'll get a quality CB in before the start of the season....

As for Richards I really think he is getting better at RB...

@shava... well we'll see won't we, RSChad his best (andbroadly inury free) season under Hughes, and I don't think that was a coincidence.

And people seem to forget Bojinov... he really is very good imo... he had two injuries at city, but they were too very bad ones. I think he'll keep fit, and I think he'll surprise some people next season....

Didn't hughes say Dunne would be captain again this season? So that means he'll be in defence

I think not getting into the top 4 would be failure.

The players you have and you want to entice are going to be happy with no ECL again next season? Don't think so myself.

 where did you get that from... all I've seen is that Hughes said that dunne won't be forced out of city, if there are offers though they will be considered id Dunne wants to leave....

I left Dunne out cause I don't expect him to be at city next season... And don't get me wrong, I love the guy, and he has been awesome for us, but I think he is just one step beneath a truly top class CB, which is what Hughes is looking for...

Would you describe Lescott as a truly top class centre back? :S

City need to break the top 4 in at least one of the next two seasons before the players start kicking up a stink.
