I doubt it, £200m sounds a lot but it doesn't go very far. They've spent about £70m on strikers this Summer. ![]() Don't forget the money that Sven spent as well... |

Its not how much you spend, its how well you spend that counts. Hughes was known for his transfer dealings and working on a small budget. Now he is just a cheque book manager that will soon be collecting his P45 |

Not everyone's as naive as Man City. Everton et al wouldn't buy 40 strikers. |

Villa and Everton with £200m would be frightening. They've managed to finish top 6 without that amount, what could they do with enough to buy 6 £30m players? Man City have lured some decent players in with some cash and a 'vision', what could Villa and Everton do with their current position and regular European football ![]() Wouldn't be as worried about Spurs, they make some very dodgy decisions. |

Stuck up bastard

imo, Hughes should've bought a whole new defence first thing, built around Dunne, as he has been colosal for them the past few years. Definitely needs a couple of new full backs and a dominating presence in the centre of midfield, like Mascherano or Gerrard, I don't see Barry as being good enough. Then, maybe, bring in 1 or 2 decent strikers. I believe if Bellamy could stay injury free he'd be good enough for a top 6 team. |

They haven't bought 40 strikers. Under Hughes they've bought 4? The rest were already there and the ones he's bought are better than the ones that were there when he took over.Man City were in a worse position than those other clubs before they started spending. I still think those clubs would have had trouble attracting the top players. Dunne wasn't as good for them last season and I get the impression City fans think it's time somebody was brought in to replace him. I'm sure defence will be next to be improved from them with it being well known they are after Terry. |

I'm talking about City not Hughes. It's not about attracting the top players, it's the right players. Plus money talks as City have shown. |

Changing my tune since 2008.

City should be aiming above top 6, it should be CL football or bust next season with the expenditure. Sure they've only spent about £70m on transfer fees for strikers, but when you take into account the wages that all these new signings are earning, it amounts to an awful lot more than this figure. Then there's fees for Barry and all... In my opinion, City need a new manager. Hughes is brilliant at working on a limited budget, arguably up there with Allardyce, but I don't think he's the type of manager who will make the City project work, and he won't be able to keep everybody happy either. One thing they need to do could be to sell some players who are never going to get a chance in order to prevent unnecessary unrest among the players. |

But they haven't bought 40 strikers Monu? They bought players to get them to a certain level and will replace them with better players as they get better. I'm sure they'll get rid of quite a few players before the season starts. Either that or loan them out. Hughes has hardly had a chance yet, lets see how he does this season.

Stop being so sarcy with the 40 strikers ![]() That certain level should be alot higher. It's embarrassing to spend that amount of money and only expect top 6. |

Top 6 is probably the minimum they expect...I bet if they don't get top 6 this year then Hughes will be sacked. |
