Lets see he wanted to leave only to go to a top four club with champions league football, but yet joins a mega rich team who came no where near the top 4 last year and have no european football,

imo everything pionts to Rafa being right
except for Barry's own given reasons though   As I said I'd rather belief the person in question then some ranting manager who doesn't know the guy personally :)
Well even if he did just go for their ambition he shot himself in the foot when he said he only wanted to leave for champions league football
People do that you know.... make mistakes... :)

Anyway the gist of all your arguments has been.... Pool plays CL, man city is very rich ergo he must've gone for the money....

The fact that he'll be a first team player rather then a squad player at liverpool, and the fact that he's joining a club with big ambitions obviously couldn't be good reasons for moving to city

you're argument is tired old an full of bitterness

Liverpool said they were interested in him, he said he wanted to move to Liverpool. Liverpool decide he's not worth the money Villa want for him, he has no choice but to play for Villa who now know he wants out. Man City come along and make an offer, he accepts first offer to get away.

Can't blame the bloke for that tbf

By that stage my decision was made and people should move on. There was genuine interest from Liverpool and I think he's probably just upset I chose City.

The difference was that City made me feel wanted. Liverpool had a chance to buy me last season but failed to pay the money, and only found it this year when they knew someone else had reached an agreement

Those are the most important quotes in that interview from Barry's perspective. 2 sides to every story, Barry is now giving his side.

My own view is that if Rafa hadn't of said anything in the first place, then Barry would not have needed to defend himself with these sound bites.

Lads (and ladies) every single footballer out there is in it for the money don't kid yourselfs. Look at all the foriegners, why would they put the effort in to move to a new country, learn all about a new culture and learn the language, all to go out on a pitch and kick a ball about...bacause they have a bigger opportunity to earn money.

Look at all the players that play for the top 4 clubs. Are they playing for them for the Champions league football or for the money? Say for example Manchester Utd drop out of the top 4 next year, I'm pretty confident they could hold on to their Rooneys and Ferdinands for a season or two at least. Now consider if Utd went bankrupt and to keep their players everyone needs to take a drastic pay cut, think most of those players would still be there in a months time? Nah..

Fact is money makes the game go round, Man City now have to most money. Get used to it.

I think that Stacie, IRL and Mercedes will be very disappointed with the first word of your post...

a team playing CL football, or a team not playing CL football...

a team challanging for 4 trophies, or a team challanging for 2 trophies...

which team has the bigger ambition... hmm...

;)

a player who isn't willing to fight for his place and take the easy option says it all as well.

anyhow glad the Barry thing was sorted quickly this summer.
