He might not have joined for the money. Gareth Barry is a good player but not a top player and it might just be that he believes City will be a force in the next few years, and want to be part of that, playing regular football.

What day is it?
showed it last season, 12 point clear so what does he go and do.....oh I know i'll sell robbie keane even though I dont have back-up for torres.

12 points clear and then united win the league comfortably

If Barry moved for the money, is he gonna come out and say it? No. And Benitez should let it go, he left Barry hanging last year so it's no good chatting the guy's motives now.

Neither is talking about what Benitez did last year - its all because of Parry that things went pear-shapped last year.

Rick Parry left it hanging last season.

This is why Rafa asked for more control over transfer dealings, if Parry had still been here now, we would still be haggling over Glen Johnson, thats the difference with us now, we know we paid well over the top, but instead of failing miserably to get a better price, we just got on with it.

i see what your saying here, u know that teams r going to over charge but now your just willing to pay the money like united do. TBH the keane one was a bit of a mystery to me, u were haggling over barry then just spend £20m on a player u needed less. if he had been a out and out striker it would have been fine

which pee'd Rafa off even more... won't pay £18 Million for a midfielder, but we pay £20 Million for a striker... a bit of a slap in the face basically.

that is why rafa demanded control of the transfers

parry told the board barry was not value for money but decided 20m was a fair price for keane....
