I understand the point of the Carling Cup, but I have always believed that the top 4 teams that qualify for Champions League should be exempt from entering.

Are they playing too many games?

Is the Carling Cup one Cup too many? :S

Nah, the CL is a reward for your team's performance over the season so you shouldn't have to sacrifice any other cup for it. It's almost like saying that CL teams are too good for it. You may as well add one last slogan to any CC promotions: this competition really doesn't matter and will die soon...

The Carling Cup is virtually meaningless for the top clubs as it's their lowest priority and their season is still seen as a failure even if they win it. The number of games thing doesn't apply because they normally play their reserves...well besides Chelsea.
