O'Neill insists Downing is a bargain for the price they paid for him, i'd tend to agree as well. No indication of where he will play yet though.

"£10m is a bargain. It's great value and he's a superb acquisition. He's got pace, although he admits he could add a few more goals to his game. I'm delighted to have him."

"He's had a nasty injury and won't be available for a considerable time, but he'll be sensational when he is."

You needed another midfielder though to replace Barry. I'm guessing that'll be it for the midfield now...

See Davies goal the other day? :D

I wont tell you it'll rise to £12m based on appearances then.

He's worth that much with him being an England international and for his versatility.

12 mil for Downing is a bit steep, 10 mil would have been a fair price.

If Downing's worth 12 mil with no goals last season, Chris Brunt is worth 18 mil. He scored 8 goals in 28 starts for WBA, who finished on equal points with Middlesbrough.

I find it odd there claiming it was 10million, sky sports still have it down as udisclosed which would have to be under 10 million as anything more has to be declared on the stock exchange?

What is odd about O'Neill saying they paid £10m?

Brunt is still at West Brom so can't have been that good or somebody would have been in for him by now. :S I think Downing's heart probably wasn't in it last year after Boro rejected his transfer request.
