Virtually maybe, not in reality... most music with instruments may have evolved from rock, but that is not to say it's rock. Jazz evolved from blues, and they are very much different kinds of music, though you can hear the blues roots in Jazz.... Grunge stands in the tradition of rock more so then many other groups with music instruments. You might say every kind of music with instruments is a subform of blues, since rock came from the blues

yeah it did, and church music (first gregorian choirs, later more complex pieces) before that, and in the western musical tradition greek music before that
