finally some forking movement in midfield. still dont think its over, not by a long shot.
It is. We only have 10 men, we don't stand a chance and Villa are absolutely controlling it. At 2-1 in this match, if the referee had bought some glasses for the match and saw Agbonlahor push Nelson over for the first goal, I'd say we might have an outside chance with 10 men. But at 3-2 (aggregate) we don't have a cat in hell's chance.

Decent first half from Rovers but we have been absolutely conned. Can't fault the Samba sending off and penalty decision as it was stone wall, but it would never have happened if the referee had seen the clear push on Nelson in the box for their first goal - Villa weren't in it at all until their first goal which was bitterly unjust.

We need to keep on attacking but do so cautiously. If we get another goal early on we might hold on but otherwise Villa will just push on and destroy us with ten men. But we'd be 3-0 up by now if the referee hadn't given Villa the platform to get back into it - you said yourself Tebroc that the goal was basically Villa's first chance of the match.

ffs, Hansen, Shearer and Southgate

The first time I saw that collision between Gabby and Nelsen didn't look like a free tbh, did when I saw the replays tho.

The commentary is so ridiculous its unbelievable. Could they be any more biased towards Villa if they tried?

It was a good penalty because it was powerful and in the corner. But they went a bit OTT. It wasn't one of those penalties you kind of thought 'wow' at - it was a good penalty yes, but not an awesome one.

I just think the referee changed the whole complexion of the game by missing that key decision with the foul on Nelson. We'd have scored another by now. Instead, Villa grew in confidence as a result and now we're down to 10 men. The referee has to shoulder a lot of responsibility for that first decision as it was clear and it has totally changed the game.

On the flipside, if Milner (on a card) puts a borderline yellow card challenge in I think he has to walk - if he goes in late on somebody it should be a second yellow based on the precedent set. Milner was booked for his first offence, Givet was booked for his first offence, and Givet also should be careful. But the referee may well look to even things up. I don't think we'll get enough of the ball to do much though.

Agbonlahor had hold of Chimbonda going into the corner there - is the referee not allowed to give a free kick against Agbonlahor for pushing and pulling?

Commentators: "Ashley Young having a conversation with the linesman on side there"

Ashley Young to Linesman: "Come on pal, we paid you good money to give those decisions in our favour. You did a great job in the first half, don't let us down" :ph43r:

Cracking first half, just what the game needed an early Blackburn goal. Shame about the first Villa goal though...I was thinking of you footyfan.
