Wonder if Coventry can cause an upset against Portsmouth who I wouldn't think would be too bothered going out with needing to stay in the league more than anything. :S

In all honesty, I don't want to win it. If we win the Carling Cup matches then we're in a cup final which is good, but our players need fewer matches in the long run so that we can get on good league form and sustain it without being tired. The league has to be our main focus as far as I can see, and doing well in one cup competition has put a lot of strain on our squad - when we played Chelsea, we had 3 games in the same week and it was sandwiched between 2 important league matches. Heck, if we hadn't played Chelsea in midweek, we might've beaten Liverpool on the Saturday.

Cup matches add to fatigue and aren't always a good thing. We have too many injuries to key midfield players to deal with another cup run after our Carling Cup run (Emerton, Dunn and Grella are all out quite regularly and they all walk into the first team when fit). In a way then, I hope you win it. But it'd also give us a psychological edge going into the Carling Cup match, so I also kind of hope we win. I suppose I don't really care too much either way really.

I expect Kalinic and Di Santo to get a chance together upfront (hopefully...). Van Heerden might come on as a sub which will be good to see: he's been building up fitness after an injury when we signed him but has always been touted as a decent, pacy winger. Hoillet may start and he tore Sunderland to shreds down the wing - he's ridiculously quick. All 3 matches will be close I think because both squads are good. Young and Downing will be very threatening if they play, they're both very good players.
