Definitely NOT a Terrorist
if i am honest i prefer aa in the attacking mid role, he tracks back far more than gerrard and offers a better line of defence

gerrard should be in cm next to masch imo

BBC earlier regarding line up

BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Anfield: "Alberto Aquilani starts in midfield for Liverpool and Albert Riera plays, but Maxi Rodriguez remains on the bench. Spurs go with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch up front and there is a start for captain Ledley King, such a huge influence on Harry Redknapp's team. Robbie Keane is in a familiar role - on the bench at Anfield.

I don't think a better team.

But it does give an impotus (sp) to other players to pull the finger out imo.

Nah i'm just playin but seriously I think you're right. The other players seem to put in more effort against stronger teams without Torrard. Almost like they don't want that label of being the extras in the Torrard show. No Benayoun either, fair play

It's another comparison with Man Utd

Other players stepping up with no Ronaldo. Kinda eerie imo.

quick question, when we lose its always rafa's fault, as we keep getting told no matter what happens the buck stops with rafa. IF the players don't perform, the buck stops with rafa, if their attitude is wrong, the buck stops with rafa.

Does the same sentiment apply when we win? :ph43r:

yes

i said it before and i will say it again

managers live and die by the results they achieve.

rafa deserves credit for any wins and criticism for any defeats

2-0 to us :)
Just come into the thread so thought I'd give Field the credit for this :)

glad we picked up the 3pts tonight and we gave a much improved performance. now lets build on this. so lfc falls in love with rafa again :D

Let's see you sing his praises then LFC :p

The peno - touch from Darby into Maxi, laid off to N'Gog, penalty - inspired 3 substitutions

Onto the game as a whole:
I think it's safe to say that AA is slowly improving. I said as soon as I saw him play a few minutes for the reserves that he is an AM and not a CM. You can't afford to be playing all the tricks and flicks in CM, he gets away with it far more in AM. He is like a taller, more Italian version of Luis Garcia

Lucas had one of his worst games of the season today, just as he was hitting his stride he had a shocker. Passing from him today was worse than Kuyts!! Degen was decent again and it was good to see Riera back (that is a horrible thing to have to say :( ) - he made a real difference tonight giving us good width and his delivery, especially from corners was far better than anything Gerrard has been serving up recently. Kuyt was much better today. Still has the touch of a brick wall but he gave the defenders a real tough time of it and brought the midfield into play well.
Carra actually had a good game at full back :o
Skrtel almost looked assured :o
Insua barely made a mistake :o
Kryten was really good with anything coming long at us. He is a beast in the air. If only he learned to speak psuedo-spanish/english he may actually be able to understand what Reina is saying! Nearly scored an OG when Reina could have collected leading up to our first goal and the mess up with defoe was avoidable too.
N'gog was superb off the bench too.

On the Defoe goal - Personally I'd be fuming if offside was given against us in the same situation but I do agree with it (I was a defender during my footballing days). Kryten never would have had to even play the backpass if Defoe wasn't hastling him and Reina wouldn't have stood there for a second with his arm up asking for offside either. The main problem is that there doesn't seem to be a difinitive way of making yourself onside again after come back from an offside position. Do you have to wati x number of seconds in an onside position first? Do you have to allow at least 1 clear phase of play happen before attempting to interfere? Who knows?

All in all I think we outplayed Spurs in the most part. Spurs had their moments but they were relatively short-lived and Reina had little to do. In the end we whould have had at least 2 more with the Kryten and Kuyt chances.
