The difference between winning and losing the final is £10m? The season isn't a success if they win the Carling Cup though...

That's a good record. :D

No I dunno, I was just making the point about the money value, it really makes a difference on those loan payments tbf. Hmmm I guess you could say it's not a success unless you win the prem? Does that mean you're not going to value other trophies?

It is a bloody good run tbf

I guess so but I doubt the players/fans will lose sleep if they don't win it. Nah, the FA Cup would have been a welcome addition i'm sure. This competition doesn't mean much to me. Fergie's had to play stronger teams than he would have wished too.

Fair point there is a heirarchy in importance of trophies, but bearing in mind you're out of the FA Cup then doesn't the Carling Cup become more important? Especially as your first 11 doesn't look strong enough to win the CL or the prem?

I would take the CC over nothing, but if we didnt win it wouldnt lose sleep. Our second string 11 playing all over the shop had us top of the league the other day mate.

League
Champions League
FA Cup
UEFA Cup
World Club Championship
Super Cup
Johnson's Paint Trophy
Carling Cup

:fishing:

Hey you might have given up but United fans haven't. :p Maybe a little bit but I still think United players/fans wont be too bothered win or lose. They will be gutted getting knocked out of the last 16 of the Champions League for instance though.

With chelsea still having 2 games in hand. Next game they put in a phenominal performance, go top and still have a game in hand. Utd will probably finish above Arsenal, but it's very unlikely you'll top chelsea this season.

I still believe we can finish above Chelsea. Blind faith, or stupidty, or just believing in a team who know how to win and get better as the season goes on as a rule... Any of the above, except stupidity or blind faith.

I've not said you won't win it, i was just weighing up the odds and saying to flak that any trophy should be seen as important cos of the likelihood of winning the other 2. If we were talking about this 12 months ago I could understand, but when you look at Arsenal who are no longer in the FA Cup or CC and look unlikely to win the CL and imo won't win the prem, and you look at Liverpool who are out of the CC, the FA Cup and the CL and won't win the prem, I just think the CC should be considered more important now. Even for the top 4.

I consider it important it keeps momentum going just look at Arsenal 5 season without a trophy!! I don't care what the trophy is as long as we win somethig and keep clocking up silverware. Which s the sign of a great team

The league and Champions League! <_< I know Chelsea are looking good for the league but they haven't been without their problems themselves.

A trophy is better than none but it's pretty much worthless really. You can't treat a competition like that putting out reserve players and then say oh yeah it's amazing to win it.

No Fergie puts reserves against lower opposition and when the bigger teams come along he tends to put out a stronger team
