So? They were highlighted two games on the trot a few months ago as well. Sorry but everyone knows Arsenal's frailties and has done for a while. |

We beat United twice in 06-07 and drew with Chelsea both matches too. I recall we beat Liverpool comfortably at home too that season but we were nowhere near the title that year, therefore you are... WRONG, thankyou for playing |

you have to beat the best to be the best, apart from man utd last season the 5 seasons before the team that got the most points from the "big 4" league won the league. and if you are trailing teams (like arseanl were trailing man utd and chelsea) the games become 6 point games, arsenal should really be looking at the games united and chelsea in the league as 6 pointers if they want to be winning the league. you can say o we lost points on the road to united and chelsea, but you should really be winning the home games or at least not loosing them |

yes but playing top four teams who can punish those frailties is different. |

You do not need to win those games to win the league jeffers. If you win the league, YOU'RE the best so it doesn't matter who you've beaten. Last season, Man United failed to pick up their usual six points from Liverpool and ended up with 5 out of 18 points, if I'm not mistaken. The only team they managed to beat was Arsenal, once. Picking up points from the rest of the league is more important. I'm not saying Arsenal are going to win the league but clearly you do not need to win these games if your consistency outside of them is strong enough. |

loosing twice to liverpool last season was awful (and possibly the only reason they were in the title race at the end), if united had won those 2 games there would have been a 12 point swing which would have put liverpool on 80 and united on 96, liverpool would have not been anywhere near as close |

You don't seem to have a point mumanc. Liverpool have already played us so.. where was their punishing of our frailties back then? They are extremely well documented, after all. |

Yes yes and IF Arsenal had won all their games they would have won the league. You couldn't beat Chelsea last season and you couldn't beat Liverpool - the two best runners up in the league that season. The only team you could beat was an Arsenal team so poor, yet you walked away with the title. Beating Chelsea helps a great deal but you don't NEED it. You don't need to beat those teams. |

i think you have missed the fact that arsenal were trailing man utd and chelsea, so if they wanted to win the league they really needed to win those games this season man utd need to beet chelsea when we play them to stand a chance of winning the league, i hate i when people are wanting their rivals to loose games yet cant beet them themselves, you get a chance to influence the other teams title run in the games you play take full advantage |

You originally said you need to be winning those games to win the league - I said, and used an example to demonstrate, that you don't. At the end of the day, they are just twelve points. We could have beaten Chelsea and Man United, then dropped points to Hull and Birmingham and you would have said about those 'you need to be winning those games'. I'm not saying Arsenal are going to overtake Chelsea and Man United but you're going on like it's impossible. As I said, the Big 4 games can help, as shown in erm 07-08 I think it was, but they are no guarantee either way. If Man United and Chelsea don't drop anymore points, us beating them wouldn't have meant s**t. |

Right.... the poor Arsenal defence and weak mentality that everybody has talked about for the last 2/3 seasons wasn't evident a few months ago? |

oh please mumanc, anyone would think we hadn't played or lost before the United game. If it was that easy, everyone in the league would do it.
