Sam Allardyce has resumed hostilities with Rafa Benitez after accusing the Liverpool boss of being a hypocrite in light of the Reds' recent performances. The two managers lock horns on Sunday when in-form Blackburn journey to Merseyside to play Liverpool in the Premier League and Allardyce has commenced the war of words against his Spanish counterpart. The Rovers boss, who has never seen eye to eye with Benitez since the Reds tactician came to England in 2004, claims Liverpool's displays of late have seen the former Valencia manager sacrifice style for substance to get his team back into top-four contention. And Allardyce has offered the view that Benitez, who has made no secret of his criticism of the way the former Newcastle and Bolton boss utilises the physical nature of the game, is using the same tactics to churn out results. Ironic The Blackburn manager told The Sun: "He's used all that stuff that he always says he doesn't like - it's ironic isn't it? "I watched them at Manchester City and they got six players booked so it shows he's brought the physical side out as well. "If it's a physical challenge on Sunday, I'll be more than happy to go down that route although I don't have the players here to do that like I did at Bolton. "But they've had to go back to basics and the pretty stuff goes out of the window until you start winning matches." Allardyce admits he has been surprised to see Liverpool struggling this season after finishing the last campaign in such commanding form, but he has praised their battling qualities to get back in the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot. He added: "At the end of last season they were scoring freely and it was all looking so rosy for them. "So I'm surprised to see them going through the turmoil of the last few months. "Liverpool are not where they expected to be and got themselves into a difficult position. "Yet they've been professional enough and dogged enough to slowly and surely improve over the last few weeks. "They have not been as pretty and fluid as they could be but have done the job and got the needed results." |

Where did you get that picture of Crouch from? Hmmm don't think that interview was very wise from Big Sam, think he's just done Rafa's pre-match team talk for him. |

Why can't Allardyce just keep his mouth shut? In all seriousness, I think we'll lose. But Liverpool played in midweek which could give us a slight fitness advantage and we are on a hot streak at the moment. Pedersen has finally started to get near his old form and become a danger from set pieces and Olsson has been an absolutely fantastic left back. I'm honestly not sure how many season's we can keep him without a big team swooping in with the way he's playing. I think we'll lose but not massively. We might well score and it depends how effective Gerrard and Torres play. If they play. 2-1 or 3-1 Liverpool |

Blackburn need to play near to their best and Liverpool to have an off day for them to get anything from this. What's happened to N'Zonzi footy? I've not heard you mention him for a while.

Nothing - he's still playing consistently well in the first team. He's never been a concern, but some of the players who've been mediocre or not quite doing their jobs properly, or even haven't been getting a chance, have started to perform. Liverpool's midfield may have a tough time getting past N'Zonzi... aerial balls basically don't work against us most of the time because N'Zonzi is 6'5'' and Samba is too so realistically, headers are going to be won by our players. That said, Liverpool can play the ball through us and punish us that way, so I can see us losing but maybe giving a half decent account of ourselves. |

depends, we have been struggling because we have played masch and lucas, none of them can play quick forward balls so our attack through plays like we did last season is totally finished. this takes gerrard out of the game as well which is why he has been poor this season. we are forced to pass sideways to full backs OR long balls. sky sport showed the team who plays the most long balls in games, we are actually second, we pass sideways the most as well I still think we will win but we will create very few chances because of our lack of playmaker, unless aa or gerrard plays in cm which fat rafa wont do then i see us struggling |

He's said even more from reading our local paper. On the whole thing of the 'physical game', Allardyce was saying how Benitez doesn't like it but has resorted to it a little himself of late. He then went on to say about how Benitez, Mourinho, Wenger etc always use physical football as an excuse for losing or gaining a disappointing result before finishing off by dishing dirt out on Benitez by saying how he knows that Benitez compiled a DVD of physical challenges in one match and sent it to Keith Hackett. Well played Allardyce. Now STFU. |

we have to attack, no more of this defensive stuff from rafa, top 4 is 80 percent gone and rafa going with 2 dm wont win us fork all the only game we should play lucas and masch in cm is against united away and chelsea at home. the rest gerrard/aa in cm Reina Kelly-Carra-Agger-Insua Kuyt-Gerrard-Masch-Babel Benny-Torres we cant afford to start of defensively like rafa usually does, just let the shackles off you fat bas-tard |
