Should never have played rooney against Munich what did i say!!
No this is why we should have. This is why the CL was our best chance of winning a trophy.

A whole seasons work thrown away in a forking shitty week :(
We did play Rooney and look what appened!! Should have saved him for this match.. Oh well!!

Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that. And when you win a championship – and we will – success isn't measured or accomplished by winning once

What'd you think of Berbatov?
From a neutral perspective I thought he was a good player, but not great. He's far too lazy. I also thought that he lacked any outlet ahead of him when he got the ball deep - partly due to the good marking of Rovers.

He is totally useless when he receives the ball with his back to goal. Absolutely pathetic in fact. When he has the time to control the ball and face the goal he can be world class and he proved that as well today at times, taking on many of our players in runs. However, he often tried to take on one too many players and his finishing was diabolical. Once we man marked him later on in the game he was non existent as he didn't have the time to control the ball and face goal.

First half I was impressed he looked strong assured and was pressing players.. Second half he went into his shell a bit.. Thing about berbatov is he is too static his movement isn't brill He likes to play too deep and too central he doesn't pull defenders about or frighten them for a man of his quality and needs to play at a lower level coz at this level he hasn't quite got it

He had to save Chris Samba's header which was going in the bottom corner of the net - quite a good save. Can only remember Robinson having to actually move from the spot to make a save twice really as well though.

Phil Jones for SA 2010 anybody? :p

If that, I can't remember him moving at all. Made Robbo look good, I'm not knocking him btw but that performance shd not be used as an excuse for him to be going to the world cup, like they were making out on MOTD. Our finishing was forking awful.

He has been that consistent for us for a long time though this season. We've kept 12 clean sheets this season largely due to him, and that's a lot for a club in the position Rovers are in. We've conceded 2 goals in our last 5 games and not a right lot more before that. Yesterday he wasn't needed much but was alert and aware when needed, which everybody says is what you need as an England keeper rather than being able to make lots of saves all game every game.

It shouldn't just be on the back of yesterday's performance but it was yet another example of why he should be going to the WC, at least as backup.

Maybe Jones could be in with an outside chance like Walcott did the other season :ph43r: Hopefully not. Should definitely be getting picked for one of the younger England teams though surely?

If I was you Footy I wdn't want either Robbo or Jones anywhere near England. Look what it did to Robbo last time, enjoy his good form why potentially risk it?

I am glad he's not going to the World Cup from a selfish and a club point of view but I still think it shows how the England setup doesn't reward players who are performing well.

As for Jones, I think he would be fine in the international setup. Especially in the U21s or something - at the end of the day if he can come in against United and Chelsea and get man of the match performances in both he should be in the setup somewhere I should think. But he'll never get near the England setup as long as he's in a Blackburn shirt seeing as we're not a big enough club - and it is surely England's loss if he can keep his current form up and continue to improve.

Agree he shd be in the U21's and I expect he will be soon enough. If the likes of Upson can get in so can he. Also don't forget Rio will be finsihed before the next world cup so there's a good chance he can work his way in. The bigger problem for you if he does is how long you'll be able to hold on to him.

We should be able to get decent money for him if he moves on. An English homegrown defender can fetch a lot of money. And he's a local lad so he might be a bit like Dunn and have a bit of loyalty, I dunno.

Seriously, as a Rovers fan my question is now who partners Jones at centre back - Samba or Nelson? I couldn't justify dropping Jones and Samba makes a few mistakes for every out of this world interception he makes. We could just put Samba upfront and Jones at the back, thus solving our striking problems...
