1-0 Everton. Nelson did a rash challenge in the box on Arteta and it was apparently a clear penalty. Everton will take control and win this - if they hadn't got the early goal I'd still have gone for a draw or win for Rovers. Such an early goal just makes it easy for the opposition to sit back and relax really.

Here's an instance of bad refereeing already today. Arteta and Pedersen square up to each other after a collision. Arteta pokes Pedersen in the eye. Pedersen gets booked, Arteta gets nothing, even though they both squared up to each other.

Oops, Arteta ended up carded too. The referee just took his time over it apparently.

Still, surely a yellow is borderline for that?

pokes him in the eye? Why did I just get an image of something out of a LooneyTunes cartoon?

 That's cracked me up for some reason.

COME ON EVERTON! I take it Saha didn't take the penalty because he normally misses. <_<

Stoke and Sunderland both winning.

Absolute con today. Arteta should've been sent off which would have changed the match - if Pedersen had fallen to the floor rolling around in faked agony when he was poked in the eye would Arteta have gotten a red card I wonder? An interesting case point, certainly.

Maybe he had a fly stuck to his face and Arteta was just trying to help him get it off? :S

Unless it's something pretty severe with intent then it's normally a yellow card.

Matt Taylor scored two for Bolton today.

Think he got credited with the assist for both goals as well. :ph43r:

eh, a hand to the face is a straight red isn't it?

Missed all the footy action today, been at work.

Gutted with the loss but it's not like we got battered.

Did Jones start along side Nelsen?
