Oh yeah, they should be looking at Championship clubs too but I can't see them looking at Coventry as they don't seem to have the structure in place to go anywhere...well besides backwards. :ph43r:

His old club West Ham might be looking for a new manager soon, not sure he'd go back there though. It seems poorly run. Hull could be looking for somebody better than Dowie since he didn't keep them up. There will be at least another Premiership club which panics and sacks the manager early on too.

It all comes down to the manager, there are two types of manager.

Those that create a team
Those that manage a team

Steve Cotterill for example, joined Notts County because he wants to take them to the heights promised earlier this season. Whereas Paul Jewell is the kind of manager that looks to join a team in the top division so that he doesn't need to put in the effort to get them up there in the first place.

I think Curbishley would go to Coventry, but Jewell, depends, as norwichnutta said, on how much he misses management.

Jewell took wigan from then Division 2 to Division 1 and also finished runners up with in the top flight with Bradford City, but was relegated before it became the Premier League.

Doesn't that kind of disprove this theory...

THE former boss of Belgian Champions Standard Liege, Laszlo Boloni, is the first person to publicly declare his interest in the vacant manager’s job at Coventry City.

The one-time Romanian international and manager of the national team has submitted his CV to Sky Blues chairman Ray Ranson, who revealed the club have been inundated with applications and inquires to become Chris Coleman’s successor.

And although there will be a lot of non-starters among the applicants, Boloni believes he can lead the club back to the Premier League with an exciting brand of football.

Speaking exclusively to the Telegraph, the 57-year-old said: “English football is the best in the world for me and I have had the chance to play against top English clubs – Arsenal and Liverpool in the Champions League and Everton in the UEFA Cup, which was a very nice experience for us at Standard Liege.

“I am very passionate and have a lot of emotion.

"I spent a number of weeks in England last year and I want to work in this special atmosphere. I know it is not easy to go to work in England but I come from a French coaching background and know French coaches like Arsene Wenger who have succeeded there.

“I have a French style of coaching and a lot of experience in France, Belgium and Eastern European football in Romania and Hungary, but I have the capacity to adapt very quickly and I want this challenge to manage Coventry City.I know the Championship is more physical than the Premier League but I like the physical presence and at the same time I like to play good, attacking football. This is my style and I am ready to do a good job at the club.”

Boloni has an excellent pedigree both as a player and manager, having won the Champions’ League with Steaua Bucharest in 1985-86, the UEFA Super Cup 1986, two domestic cups and three league titles as a player, as well as winning 108 caps for Romania and scoring 25 international goals from midfield.

As a manager he won the Championship in his first season with Standard Liege 2008-2009, qualified for Champions League and UEFA Cup and won the Belgium Super Cup 2008 and 2009.

Prior to that he won the Portuguese league in 2001-2002 with Sporting Lisbon, the Portuguese Cup and Portuguese Super Cup the same year, while also promoted young players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma to the first team.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Definitely don't want him after he inflicted Cristiano Ronaldo on the world.

Why would you want to manage Coventry Karl?

COVENTRY City’s search for a new manager is gathering pace after it emerged that Ray Ranson has already spoken to two candidates.

The Sky Blues chairman has revealed that the process is up and running as he sifts through a long list of people who want the job to come up with a shortlist of people he is interested in taking over from Chris Coleman.

A lot of people have expressed an interest in the Ricoh Arena hot seat but it is clear that the club have their own idea of who they want and the type of manager required to take the existing squad and add to it, rather than dismantle it and start from scratch which would effectively set the club back two years.

Although not having set a timetable for formal interviews, Ranson said: “I met with one on Wednesday and another yesterday, so the process is underway.”

Speculation continues to be rife among the fans as to who is favourite to land the job but a second unemployed manager has come out and publicly thrown his hat into the ring.

Former Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo, who was voted Scottish Manager of the Year last season after leading the club to third in the Premier Division, has indicated his interest.

His agent Antonio Carlo said: “He is available for the job and has sent in his CV to the club.

"It is now up for consideration from the board at Coventry. “Maybe something different would be good for the club rather than a succession of English managers.”

Laszlo, not to be confused with former Standard Liege boss Laszlo Boloni and also of Hungarian descent, revealed that he has applied for the job this week.

He is the former manager of the Hungarian national team, having previously been assistant to Lothar Matthaus, as well as managing the Ugandan national team for two years prior to taking charge at Tynecastle.

He eventually fell out with chairman Roman Romanov - who is the son of Lithuanian businessman owner Vladimir Romanov - and was sacked in January.

------------------------

I don't like all this interest in the club. Will make the disappointment even worse when they plump for Ince

Ya he did a good job there.

Have no idea why foreign managers would be interested unless Ranson promises all of the Westwood money plus another 1-2 mil
