Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has been banned for three months after the Italian football federation confirmed "irregularities" over the transfers of Diego Milito and Thiago Motta in 2009.

The FIGC Disciplinary Commission ruled on Friday evening that the Nerazzurri president will face suspension from running the club and will have to pay a €45,000 fine, revealing it was in connection with Moratti's negotiations with banned Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi.

Preziosi has also received a six-month extension on the five year ban he was already serving for indiscretions at previous side Como.

Moratti, however, fiercely opposes the decision.

"I have a lot of respect for the judges, but very little for the Federation," Moratti told Tuttosport newspaper.

"Mourinho was right when he said they'd make Inter pay one way or another. He left; unfortunately I cannot do the same.

"During the inquiry our defence was not taken remotely into consideration.

"In any case, this sentence is just the latest chapter in a hostile attitude towards Inter. I do not feel remotely guilty of anything."

Inter appointed Rafael Benitez as Jose Mourinho's successor in June and is yet to make any signings. However, Ricardo Quaresma has been sold to Turkish side Besiktas for a fee of around €7million.

Moratti will not be allowed to go into the dressing room to see his players before or after the Italian Super Cup against Roma in August.
