Shocking. We're after Tommy Smith again as well. Can't see them going back up again, or finishing anywhere near there. I can see them finishing about 17th.

Portsmouth have complained to the Football Association and the Italian federation over Genoa's failure to pay monies owed for the transfer of Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Boateng, 23, left Fratton Park for Genoa in a £5 million deal in the summer before subsequently being loaned out to AC Milan.

Genoa missed the first instalment due a few weeks ago and administrator Andrew Andronikou has raised the matter with the governing bodies.

''Genoa were due to pay the first instalment two weeks ago,'' he told the Portsmouth News. ''We've been listening to excuses. We've had enough. We complained last week on the 15th and got a response saying 'sorry, we mistook your bank details'. A week later, it doesn't look like the cheque has even hit the post.''

Genoa have hit back at accusations that they still owe Portsmouth money for Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The midfielder joined Genoa over the summer before being immediately loaned out to AC Milan.

But Portsmouth have claimed they are still awaiting payment of the transfer fee, with the first instalment due a fortnight ago.

Pompey have lodged a complaint and the Football Association is set to contact the Italian Football Federation to discuss the matter.

However, the Serie A side have now responded by saying the first payment was made, after a delay for technical reasons, while the next instalment has also been paid in advance.

"Genoa paid the first and also the second instalment for the player," the club's chief executive Alessandro Zarbano told Ansa.

"It's true that there has been a little delay on the first one, but not due to Genoa.

"The explanation of what happened is very simple. In the invoice Portsmouth had not indicated all the bank dates and the contract was incomplete.

"Indeed we have already paid in advance of ten days the second instalment that was due to expire on October 5."
