From a neutrals point of view on JC tackle, it could have been a yellow but also could have been a red. Dont think there was intent, but looked nasty when u 1st see it, and for those that dont think he was really hurt, well thats just being a muppet.

Changing my tune since 2008.
One of the most stonewall red cards you will see for the next couple of weeks. Needless scissor tackle which trapped the defender's leg between Cole's and it was a potential leg breaker. The defender's leg had nowhere to move when Cole wrapped his legs around it so could easily have been broken and scissor challenges are one of the worst types in the game, let alone when they're off the floor.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think for a second that it was a malicious tackle from Joe Cole. I don't think he is that type of player. But by the same token, it would not get brought into question if it was any other question and it would be a definite red card, its just because it is Liverpool and Joe Cole that have been punished that it is even questioned.

thats what annoyed me more than anything, if the defender didnt over react like his leg was broken, then cole would not have been sent off. but because of the reaction it made it worse
