47 pages... ![]() Haven't read anything past page 37!! Bottom line, people making snap decisions on the first game of the season when 1) Liverpool played with 10 men for 45 2) Torres isn't 100% 3) Fabregas wasn't even in the squad 4) RVP had 15 Arsenal were the best team in the first half, Liverpool rocked them with the early goal in the 2nd. Draw was a fair result, and both teams would've taken a point at the start. |

Haven't read any of the thread so sorry if I just repeat anything said. Well happy with the result all things considered. 45 minutes with 10 men and Arsenal still barely created anything. If it wasn't for that one moment of madness then we could have claimed an epic win. Thought the Cole red was harsh and I would have said yellow but I think with the way he went in he always left himself open to a red card, especially with the angle the ref was viewing it from. Mascherano was immense and that goes to show that, despite wanting to leave the club and country, he is still a good honest professional and puts his heart and soul into every game he plays. Thank you Masch! Gerrard also had an excellent game, which is nice to see. His passing was crisp and accurate on the whole, even his long range passing was on the money most of the time. The rest of the side I would say were all above average, especially if you compare it to last season. Arsenal were their usual self - excellent in possession, passing crisp and clean, ball retention brilliant. But if they come up against a well organised defence who can just put themselves into 2 lines of 4 in the knowledge that Arsenal are simply going to try to pass straight through them they really struggle. They need to badly work on other ways of attacking. You've got a guy upfront who is good in the air but you still seem pretty alergic to beating a man down the flank and putting in a cross. Arsenal were by far the better team in the first half but, despite the possession stats, I would say it was very even second half. Liverpool's defense easily countered Arsenal's attacking in terms of quality. All in all a fair result that so nearly went our way through sheer bloody-mindedness

47 pages!! my god you talk a lot i gave up at 37interesting game. first red card, thought it was a tad harsh but can see why the ref did it, dont think there was any malice behind it but rules are rules. second red...i wasnt paying attention ![]() i felt sorry for liverpool when arsenal equalised, i think everyone had a gut feeling it would happen. i thought it would have been easy for reina to sort that but he just had a blinder. he made an cracking save shortly before it though and a couple others. i know people have said that arsenal dominated completely, but i dont think they did as much as people were saying. they had more possession but i didnt think they created enough to say that they dominated as much. i thought they played a more physical game compared to the pretty arsenal we all know, which could be a good or bad thing, i havent decided yet. anyway beautiful first goal and liverpool did pretty well considering they were a man down. thought kuyt did good but no one really stood out for me. and with all the hype about wilshere...he didnt do much

ok gutted about the late equaliser but pepe is allowed to make one mistake every 3 seasons, poor fella, still a legend though. I thought we played well, the passion and committment was top notch, even for wantaway masch, i will dearly miss him. the back 4 were very good, solid, agger you soldier! skrtl is looking like the player we first had and agger is more then capable of filling in at left back. where was aquaman? The sending off changed the whole game, we did what we had to. probably a fair result, allthough i still feel robbed. Unlucky joe, but by the letter of the law you had to go. though the goon sure did make a meal of the challenge, i thought he may have needed amputation but only for him to bounce back up and carry on playing like nothing happened a few mins later.... I thought ther entire team played well, nice goal from ngog too. |
