How do you know he wouldn't have done much better?

The language barrier isn't much of a concern, he can learn that in a couple of months. He is a fantastic manager. Villarreal were a small club going nowhere when he took them over and get got them to the CL semi finals and consistently in the top 3/4 in Spain. The Madrid job was fully deserved for his achievements at Villarreal and he lead them to their record points total in the league, their record amount of goals in the league and was undeservedly sacked. Now he is taking Malaga who were bottom when he took over and he will make sure they are comfortably safe come the end of the season.
IMO i did say. Benitez won and achieved a lot too

pellegrini was the one we lost out on big time to steady the ship
Pellegrini wouldnt have done much better IMO can he even spk English?
a lot of good managers would have done better
All ifs and maybe's, depends on players bought and how current players would have reacted. But agree he is a better manager than Hodgson. Imo he would have shown his true worth in his 2nd season in charge, first season would still have been about finishing top 6 at best.

yeah obviously but it isnt just about the finish

its the performances and result, he would def have done better, in fact a lot better

this liverpool team is a good team, we are weak in terms of having speed to attack with so we are kinda one dimensional but still this season is a disaster at the moment

nah that's where we disagree, it's not alot better. I think you underestimate a lot of teams around you. If you have a weakness you get exposed in the league, that's been shown up with the top 3 and I wouldn't fancy you against many atm and alot of that is down to to your players. Yeh the performances might be better under Pelligrino, but they might expose you to more losses as well. This I'm pretty sure about considering his style and the players you have. Second season it would be different tho.

you agreed woy is doing a bad job so to finish 5th/6th and give better results/performances, he wouldnt need better players

remember rafa got sacked for not getting 4th

I don't understand the first sentence? I don't think it's all about Woy btw, I keep saying its a combination of everything including the quality of the squad and the desire and attitude of the players.

I did say earlier that was justified considering he'd been there 6 seasons. You can't apply the same to a new manager in his first season, and with a weaker squad.

roy has a better squad than last season, or about the same. in fact so far he has had a fit torres all season which we didnt last season at all

its his job to manage the players, if he cant then he is doing a bad job

answer this so we can end it lol

is roy underachieving?
no

No way does Roy have a better squad then last season. Most of it isn't even his squad and the purchases he has made are nowhere near liverpool quality. The only exception is Meireles who is ok.

As I said I think you are about where you should be. It's a much of a muchness, put it this way - would it be underachieving to say you should be 8th instead of 9th? Hardly. A few weeks ago there were threads about whether liverpool were in a relegation battle, and now you're top half of the table. Ppl's attitudes change very quickly, lets face it there's no way you were gonna finish top 4 regardless of who was in charge. And now it seems unlikely (with the squad you have) you can better what you did last season so what difference does it make? Wait until summer, you'll get a new manager who will bring in some decent players and next season is where it begins. I want to emphasise the "decent players" bit cos no manager with this squad is gonna get you top 4 mate.

I swear we're repeating ourselves now  It's not relegation man! I said before that's like 8 points off Chelsea which under the circumstances, considering the difference in squad and both team's performances, it isn't bad. Look how easily you caught up to Spurs, if you had won today some of you WOULD be saying top 4 is realistic, I read exactly that when you caught Spurs up a couple of weeks ago.
