Will Chelsea continue their slump this weekend, or will they re-discover their form in what is their biggest game of the domestic season?

Both teams have had go news on the injuries front regarding Lampard, who is expected to start this game and Scholes who is once again available for selection.

UTd went 3 poitns clear of Chelsea on Monday night with the win over Arsenal and still have a game in hand. A win on Monday night will put us in pole position going into the Christmas and new year period.

Probable teams:

-------------------------------------------Cech
Ferreira---------------IVanovic-----------------------Terry-----------------Cole
------------------------------------------Mikel
---------------------------------Essien--------Lampard
------------------Anelka-----------------Drogba-----------------Malouda

-------------------------------------------Rooney
-------------------Park------------------Anderson-------------Nani
-------------------------------------Fletcher------Scholes
Evra----------------------Vidic---------------------------Ferdinand--------RAfael
--------------------------------------------VDS

i agree with your formation(uniteds), team and scoreline
Manchester = 50% United, 31% City, 19% the rest. Manchester is RED. Always has been.

England's Big Two face-off on Sunday afternoon in what could turn out to be a crucial game in the race to lift the Premiership title in May. Didier Drogba’s winner when these two sides last met in the league in April was enough to ensure Chelsea eventually went on to Premiership glory, winning on the final day of the season by one point.

Drought

That goal back in May was Drogba's first against United in the Premier League, and it was offside too! The Ivorian striker goes into this game out of sorts with only 3 goals in his past 10 games, a run which seen him dropped to the bench last weekend against Tottenham. Goals have been hard to come by for the Chelsea’s front line of late with Nicolas Anelka not getting on the score sheet in his last 7, and Malouda only managing 1 from his last 10 after his excellent start to the campaign.

Chelsea's slump has seen them fall to third place in the league, three points behind their opponents on Sunday. Last week they showed some signs of improvement with a better performance but that will need to continue on Sunday if they want to pull back Utd’s lead at the top.

Lampard came through a practice match this week and Ancelotti has deemed him fit to start, but after being out for so long it is hard to see him having a big influence in a game of this magnitude. Lampard is set to go head to head with Darren Fletcher in the middle of the park and I’m sure he'll be put under pressure everytime he is on the ball to see if there are any cobwebs left from his layoff. I expect United to look to hit them on the counter and if Lampard can be targeted and United win the ball from him high up the pitch they can launch counter attacks that will hurt Chelsea.

Weak Link
United look as if they’'ll be unchanged from Monday’s game with the news that Paul Scholes will be out for a further month with a groin problem. Michael Carrick will keep his place in the deep role, and although his form has been improving he hasn’'t played many teams were he has been put under severe pressure on the ball – except against Valencia when he cost United the opening goal. Carrick is the weak link in United’s midfield and with the Essien and Mikel’s energy I imagine he will be in for a tough time this weekend and he is a player Chelsea need to target if they want to get any joy.

Another area which Chelsea will look to exploit is down their left flank. Ashley Cole is a very attacking full back and if Chelsea can get in 2 v 1 situations up against Rafael they will create some good opportunities. Nani's defensive work has improved over the last year or so but he will need to help out his full back a lot, and be aware of Ashley Cole's runs from deep.

Probable teams

Tactical battle
One change to the above team I would expect to see is a change with United's wingers. Park moving to the right hand side to combat Ashley Cole’s attacking threat and Nani moving to the left to expose Ferreira's lack of pace. Nani came off the bench against Chelsea in April and created a goal from the left when he was up against Ferreira. We seen last Monday night that at times Park was almost playing as a left wing-back with Evra tucked further in-field to keep Nasri quiet and to prevent him from cutting inside, which worked for United very well.

Anderson's Nani-esque resurgence has earned him a new contract at the club. He is United's most attacking central midfielder and will making surging runs from deep with the ball, Mikel’s lack of mobility will be exposed if Anderson can continue the form he has shown in his last three appearances and Chelsea’s defence - which has been shaky of late – will be tested if he is allowed to run at the two centre backs.

Chelsea's lack of goals will be a major concern for Ancellotti going into this game, especially with the form of United's defence. I struggle to see Chelsea scoring on Sunday, and if United score they will win the game in my opinion.

Prediction: Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

Yeah Drogba rarely does anything against United. Vidic will match him for strength and keep him well marshalled.
