Steven Gerrards cousin Antony has declared for ROI. He is currently on loan from Cardiff at Hull where he has played well in the centre

How many actual Irishmen have played for Ireland down the years? Most of Jack Charlton's ROI teams in the late 80's and early 90's were English.

Of the players that were called up to play against Macedonia and Uruguay last month, these were not born in the Republic of Ireland:
Kieran Westwood (Manchester), Ciaran Clark (Harrow), Kevin Foley (Luton), Kevin Kilbane (Preston), Darron Gibson (Derry), Paul Green (Pontefract), Liam Lawrence (Retford), James McCarthy (Glasgow), Aiden McGeady (Glasgow), Marc Wilson (Antrim). Thats out of a group of 24 players and does not include some of the senior players and some of the other younger Irish players who weren't called up to play those matches
