City have ditched this year’s annual awards ceremony after deciding there was nothing worth celebrating.

The club traditionally hand out trophies to the best-performing players at a glitzy event in the final weeks of the season.

But they have pulled the plug as City potentially face up to their lowest league finish for 35 years.

Director of operations David Baldwin said: “We thought very carefully and discussed it with various supporters’ groups. We have to admit the general consensus is that we haven’t had much to celebrate this year.
