GOAT.
Rooney just called him the greatest player of all time :S Messi would rip the league apart with the likes of Cesc, Wilshere and Ramsey if he ever signed with us :please: The guy creates a lot for himself too. I love how the midfielders are mentioned btw but no Dani Alves, interesting one. I'd question how much Rooney watched them as Xavi/Iniesta to Alves to Messi (Plus others obviously) seems to be a very common move they do.

No, he hasn't gotten close to his domestic performances with Argentina in the past few years.

With that though you'd have to question why Torres has never been amazing with Spain but was good with Liverpool. He had those players but was better without them. There is two sides to it. So he could even improve without them for another club :o

Rooney's just hating imo. He can't have forgotten how easy Messi found it the other day to shine in England against a top team, let alone one of our lesser teams. Are we saying Stoke and Bolton would do a better job of taming him than Arsenal and Man United can? They'd kick him about for a bit but come on, he's used to that.

How is he hating? He called him the best player ever!

And I think he is right that Ronaldo is more suited to the EPL as he is much quicker and more powerful.

Ronaldo is more suited, but Messi would adjust he's to good not to the little bastard.

Messi would make a joke out of the EPL. He comes up against far more athletic/agile defenders in La Liga and makes them look like statues, imagine what he would do to Richard Dunne, Robert Huth, Jamie Carragher etc etc.

Ronaldo has proved it both leagues. Messi hasn't.

I just think that somewhere he's not being genuine, if you're right about what he's said. He's calling him the best player ever, then claiming he'd need to bring other players with him to be as effective in the EPL? The compliment sounds cheap to me.

Ronaldo > Messi...
Cesc, Robben>Both? Proved it in 3 leagues :ph43r: Alonso>Cesc? 2 leagues vs 1 (soon to be 2 tbf)

Also that arguement has always been silly to me. Ronaldinho was only on the top of his game in one league so Robben is better than him too I expect.

If you had, for example, Darron Gibson and Keith Andrews, instead of Xavi and Iniesta, Messi wouldn't be as dangerous.

I think its a perfectly fair comment" Messi is the best player ever and would still tear up any league, but he would tear it up more if xavi and iniesta were playing with him because they are the other best players in the world! ANy player in the world would be better with these two in the team!! He is been realistic in that ronaldo is more suited to the physical side of it, but he isn't saying that messi wouldn't adapt but acknowledging the fact that it would be different!
