I just agree that Ronaldo is a better player and far more enjoyable to watch
First of all he was wumming and second of all do you agree Alonso is better than Cesc? He has proved it in two leagues.

Did you read the stats in the other thread btw Cesc. Ronaldo scored 26 of his goals when Madrid were comfortably winning (in terms of the scoreline). Messi scored 13 in that scenario for Barca.

That is not what I asked :p I am wondering why it works in Ronaldo's favour but as we both know here it won't work in Alonso's favour?

I know you cant define a player by where he has played but it goes along way to proving to me that they are a quality player

if they have played in 2 leagues then its easier to guage it but if they have been excellent in one league, still shows to me they are quality because if they were crap then they wouldnt have played well

i was ignoring that

then that takes us back to the fact that messi has been mostly poor (comparatively) for argentina

also, how would you class george best and giggs then, as they never reached any world cups?

Very good players.

But the true judge at the very highest end of the scale has always been performances in World Cups, partly because the Champions League has only recently become the animal it is, and partly WC will always be the top trophy for a player to want to win.
