MCFC just reminded me a bit of this, could this be one of the hottest contested charity shields we have seen in years? Most times even if its the likes of Chelsea and united involved it still been seen as a bit of a warm up, both teams a never generally full strength and neither side really putting their all into it. This time round of course its a manchester derby and regardless of its worth, these two teams just don't like losing to each other.

So will Fergie and Bob Mankini be putting out a decent side and go for it?

Could be a right ding dong!

Well Utd always put out their first XI in these games. Which we will do again I think but it won't be as hotly contested as a league game.

I think City will take it more seriously than Man United will. Not that United won't, I think they'll be up for it. But I think City will be more up for it. Still, United will win.

I just view it as I have always viewed the Charity Shield - as a glorified friendly.

I think both will want the win. You dont go into any game against your local rivals and not care.
