I think it's reasonable to suggest that Chelsea, Man Utd and City will buy big this summer. It's also fairly safe to predict that the PL winners will have significantly more points than Utd had last seaon - 81 was it? I don't remember a points tally as low as that.

So, if we agree that the top 3 will be better and we also agree that Spurs will buy a striker that can score and Liverpool continue their early spending, it really could be difficult for Arsenal. Yes, they will spend too, but will Wenger get off his ego trip and buy someone that the team actually needs, rather than a young French prodigy with a 'bright future'? I imagine he will this time, but it'll be interesting, all the same.

Liverpool are spending but not spending well imo so that won't make a difference to the top 4 unless it changes.

Liverpool are signing the right players, all be it that they are over priced. They have needed a few better back up players the last 2 seasons and they seem to be bringing them in.

for the first team they only really need a left back, maybe a better winger to replace Carroll/Kuyt and possibly a better right back instead of Johnson

Liverpool should pick up more points against the smaller teams this season IMO due to having the stronger back up players and no Europe

A better winger to replace who?!?!?! Carroll?! I'm not suprised you think Adam is the right type of player of you've got Carroll on the wing

well if you have watched how Liverpool play Carroll doesn't really fit in, the winger would replace him in the side and play Kuyt through the middle. or replace Kuyt to give Carroll better service

Adam is good enough for the bench and to be back up as Gerrard and Mirelese will be starting when fit

Kuyt has already been playing through the middle becuase of Carroll's injury and Kuyt is not good enough. Both should not be in a side wanting C/L football. Henderson is not yet good enough for a side wanting that and Adam never will be.

but they wont be playing those teams. Henderson and Adam are both more than capable against the bottom 10-14 sides in the league, which is who they will be playing against. They wont be playing CL football they will be playing sides like Blackburn, Stoke, Wigan, Wolves etc... Which will increase their point tally(points to title)

I agree with most that the points margins to Win and stay in the PL will be very different this season.

To win it will probably take 90-94 points and safety could be as low as 30-33 imo.

United, Chelsea & City will finish stronger as will Liverpool. Not dismissing Arsenal at all but alot will depend on who stays and more importantly who they buy.

I'm expecting Spurs and Everton to be fighting for Europa (6th)

Very exciting season ahead :)
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

No one thought Blackpool would get as many points as they did last season, it really is too unpredictable. If I had to say though I reckon 38 points will be enough to keep you up.

The teams above them have better players and will be winning those games plus more meaning they are not good enough.

Also I don't for a second seeing the signings they have made troubling a side like Stoke anymore than what they already have.

I'm not sure it will take 90 - 94 points to win the league, although it will be higher than last season. I think I'm right in saying that the 90 point barrier has only been broken 5 times in 19 seasons - Chelsea and Man Utd twice and Arsenal once. Although it's likely that the top teams will be better than last season, if they improve collectively, they are likely to take points off of each other and so it may not take such a big total to win it.

Liverpool struggled more against the promoted teams than the top, Adam would help improve this

plus if you read my posts he would be back up. so if the rest are fit wouldn't be playing
