Hmm. I think the Wenger-Redknapp comparison is a bit flawed there.

It is all relative to expectation. Redknapp isn't expected to win trohpies or challenge for the title - Arsenal and Wenger are. Arsenal are one of the biggest teams in the league, and when you go 6 years without winning a trophie and a large portion of the fans are questioning you then the media will get on your back.

It's funny really, cos think how much the England team gets bigged up until the inevitable fail. From there the same media rip the players guts out. Certainly don't like getting on managers backs mind.

Harry was criticised by the fans last season, I remember him getting booed at one stage. He ran to the press with this and they were all up in arms protecting their saviour tbf.

Why would Harry be criticised though? Has he failed in his job for 6 years? Has he failed to recognise faults in his team? Has he sold of key members of his squad and not replaced them? Currently, there is not much reason for Harry to be criticised. Maybe in another two years if he isn't doing well with Spurs then yes. It is not as if Rafa was criticised right away - it was after a number of years too.

I really don't think it is.

My issue isn't with them criticising Wenger, it's how they conduct themselves. How often have even heard a British manager being criticised face to face in an interview let alone being flat out asked if they were quitting or getting sacked?

I am pretty sure Roy Hodgson was asked about his position in an interview when he was at Liverpool now that I think of it :S And maybe even Mark Hughes too.

They are certainly biased towards certain people, a lot of managers are rather pally with certain quarters of the press. But I wouldn't say xenophobic.

Why don't you think it is flawed?
Mainly because i don't think expectations should have an relevance to showing someone respect.

Well I didn't see the interview today, but surely he is allowed to ask questions that the fans are asking themselves?

Criticisim is relative to your expectations of the club, and Wenger deserves the criticism at the moment.

That would be fine if they were consistent in their questioning, they aren't.

Absolutely Wenger deserves criticism, that doesn't mean you don't show the man a bit of respect.

It's not that i don't like your opinion, i just don't understand it

I mean you say in 1 post that Wenger isn't the best manager in Arsenal's recent history, then the next you say George Graham isn't on Wenger's level. Either i'm missing something or you're talking gibberish.

Well I still wouldn't say they are xenophobic.

Firstly there aren't an awful lot of british managers in the league. And there has been an smaller amount of them at the top clubs - as these are the clubs with teh most expectation and coverage then the criticism will be greater.

Look at McClaren, he was torn apart in the media. Pretty much ruined his chances of working in the EPL any time soon which is why he went off abroad.
