 So Hargreaves is lying be default? This is his take on things, and I agree it might not have been smart to put it out there in the media, because he'll get plenty of backlash for it, as this thread proves. It's just a pity that players cannot speak their mind anymore.... Yes united stood by him for several years, but apparently they were not giving him the right treatment in Hargreaves opinion. Let's say I have an alcohol addiction and my employer is standing by me for years paying for treatment for my problem, and they insist I have to take their treatment. I'd be grateful for my employer to stand by me for several years, however if the only treatment they offer is not making things better I'm not gonna be grateful for that...

Yeah, so ungrateful that you offer to work for them for free. Righto.

 that was to make a point, footballers earn enough to offer to work for free, but let's continue the analogy... If I found treatment outside of my work and got clean and I really loved my job and employer I might offer to work for free but still criticize them for not allowing me to look for a treatment that worked, which would've gotten me back on the job a lot sooner

..but you remain silent on it and then when you move to a new job you think it's ok to then slag off the old employer? Having not said a word for the best part of 3 years about it?

No he didn't  He's said himself he was fully fit to play against Wolves and it was his hamstring that went after 5 minutes. Nothing to do with his knees or tendons.

 i thought steadman was the worlds leading knee surgeon...maybe we shouldnt have sent hargreaves to see him then..maybe we should have listened to hargreaves and sent him to a lesser surgeon WTF were we thinking

“When I walked off the pitch after five minutes in that game against Wolves last season, people must have thought, ‘What is it with this guy? Is he made of forking glass? Is he kidding?’” he said. “It was my first game in two years. I lasted five minutes before I tore my forking hamstring. And when I had the scan afterwards there were two tears in my calf, too. Walking off the pitch that day was the longest walk of my life. It took all my energy just to make it back to the dressing-room. It’s my first game in two years, I’ve had a standing ovation and I’ve now got 70,000 people looking at me – millions more on TV – and all I can think is, ‘Try not to limp’. I look like a joker. I wanted to try to keep playing. I think it shows how desperate I was, trying to battle on with two muscle injuries. I wanted to at least get to half-time. But I last five minutes! I’m not an emotional guy but when I finally made it into the dressing-room, I just cried. I was sitting there with one of the physios and I was so overwhelmed. I had put so much into it. For two years I had been visualising the moment in my mind.”

No mention of him complaining that he wasn't fit to play in that interview. Why's he changed his tune now?

Has anyone actually heard him say united are at fault? He said the treatment didnt work, not the same is it!
In his interview he stated that, 'everyone there was lovely and tried their best' but the injections just didnt work. How the fork is that disrespectful?
This hate the guy for joining city who now all of a sudden has no class is pathetic. People wishing the worst on him need to have a think about how much class they actually have themselves.

End of post for me cos this s**t has moved from boring to just plain sad. Even the title of the thread was structured for reaction...but not based on fact.

I think it is:

"Owen Hargreaves has claimed Manchester United put his career on the line by administering the wrong treatment for his chronic injury problems and making a series of mistakes that left him fearing he may never play football again." (first Paragraph of the OP)

which is why it is getting the response it has

, but the midfielder believes the treatment led to his condition deteriorating, leaving him barely able to walk and with a knee that felt "like I was made out of glass".

He claims various specialists had subsequently told him United had prescribed the wrong treatment, adding that his injury "got significantly worse through the injections".

But did Owen actually claim that??? I haven't seen that quote anywhere mate?

Not from any of the articles i've read he hasn't. He said he felt like a guinea pig and that the injections didn't work for him plus he MAY have been misdiagnosed. Not ground breaking stuff.
He also stated he was willing to have the injections because he didn't want to wait for 6 months for the inflammation to go down....thus admitting he too was to blame.

But i stand by what i said, the Hargreaves hate thing is pathetic. I understood the Tevez thing but this is utter bollo*ks imo.

So he's been told by medical experts that United perscribed the wrong treatment....well the experts must be wrong then

Close the NHS and send everyone to OT for treatment cos they can heal NEARLY everyone :yahoo: :p
