I really think its a shambles that a Country of Englands standing in the game has to resort to foreign managers.
why? You want the best man for the job and it shouldn't matter what nationality they are imo. I am not bothered if they come from mars as long as they can make England into a good team
That in itself I think is part of the issue. England are a world power in football, the creators of the game, the Premiership is arguably the biggest league in the world, it certainly is in terms of interest around the world, yet they've been unable to produce an English manager that can manage the England national team with any prolonged success. Venables did a good job in 1 tournament, Robson did an excellent job in World Cups. The much maligned Sven has been the most consistent man in charge of England never failing (though never getting past either) to make the Quarter Finals in any of the 3 tournaments he coached England in.

Germany have gone from Voller to Klinnsman to Low over the last 10 years and continued the success, all Germans.

Italy have gone from Trap to Lippi to Donadoni back to Lippi and now with Prandelli with some success, all Italians.

Spain have gone from Saez to Aragones to Del Bosque and with incredible success, all Spaniards.

England should be a world power and they should be able to produce a string of world class managers of their own. The one that has been ignored, and ridiculed in England because of his perceived failing at Chelsea, is Scolari. The man is without question one of the best managers at International level in the modern game. If you want a quality foreign manager for the national team he is the ideal man. Along with Hiddink.

Unlucky my ass. England only barely qualified from their group and Germany dismantled them.
after the goal was disallowed

englands heads dropped and my local under 8s could have beaten england after that

cheated out of the wc

lol your anti english bias shining through

the fact is that if the goal had been allowed then england would have been full of confidence and gone onto beat the germans. before the disallowed goal england were all over them, pinging the ball about and looking very very good

once the goal was disallowed england lost concentration, conceded and their heads dropped

argue all you want but goals change games and this was a huge contributing factor in englands demise :(

The goal would mave made it 2 2 so they were hardly outplaying England at the time

What day is it?
I agree we where outplayed by ze germans but at the same time pulling it back to 2-2 could very easily have tipped the game in our favour

even though at 2-2 my money would still have been on germany to win

The problem with taking Wee_Eck's line of thinking is that there aren't that many English managers capable of cutting the mustard. Steve McClaren was a disaster and when Fabio goes who is our option? Redknapp? Allardyce? Steve Kean? Foreign is literally the only option we have.

Tempest luckily for you Kean is Scottish ;)

You could hire the best manager in the world (apart from SAF would never do it) but you still have to work with the same players.
A manager needs to have managed for a while before being given the poisoned chalice, McClaren never had enough experience for the job but IMO Redknapp, Allardyce or even Pulis(I know the fans wont back it but Id pick him) all have enough experience to be able to deal with the rough press.
If you hire a foreign manager they MUST speak the language first,
