Been on a Killie forum (yeah there is enough of us to have forum) and been discussing the SFA's decision to retrospectively ban O'Connor for 2 games for diving in the box and duping the ref to give a penalty.
Now im all for this course of punishments for divers and think its well overdue for strong action to be taken.
My only reservation is proving beyond doubt that it was a dive and that no contact was made.

ffs what a farce. Issue a ban to make an example of someone only to rescind it on appeal?

Exactly, if your going to do it then you need to stand firm to make an example. Rescinding the ban only encourages players ffs

They have been doing thsi in Italy since the start of last season iirc. I think Krasic was given a ban for it. HAs certainly cut down on the diving from what I have seen so it is a good idea.

Sounds a good idea as long as they follow through. Only problem I can see is how to define a dive. It's easy if there is no contact and the player goes down, but like with the Rodwell incident, what happens if there is contact but it doesn't warrant the reaction from the player.

IMO Suarez reaction got Rodwell sent off, yet there was minimal contact with the player, would an incident like that be classed as a dive?

EDIT: using the Rodwell incident as it occurred recently to a pretty unanimous decision that it was never a red, before any of our beloved Liverpool fans get a bee in their bonnet

I don't think you can ban a player if there is contact. It would be a dangerous route to go down as it would then come down to personal interpretation. Much safer to stick to clear diving.

Totally agree. It has to be for complete no-contact dives. There can't be an argument then.
