Messi against Madrid last season in the semi final did that and Gerrard has done that so Gerrard is now as good as Zidane right? Zidane was never consistantly anything. You have to be consistant to do that. Also Messi is consistantly exceptional every season. It is a pathetic way to judge people. If you think people should be judged on 4-5 games every 4 years then there is no point in this debate. You've said you don't even watch La Liga on Liquid so yeah you're guessing tbh You'll try and argue this but you haven't a leg to stand on when you have said you don't watch them.

Goonie you cant even begin to compare club football to international football its totally different. international football like the world cup hold much more value imo than any club competition because it reaches out to a wider audience. and the best players from each country is present which makes it the toughest competition to win. |

the optimum words are - club football. cl football is the pinnacle of that yes but you ask most player(non british) would they rather win the cl with their club or the world cup with their national side. i think you would find the answer would be the world cup anyway it seems to have gone off topic, my bad

There should be when the players can be cherry picked from across the globe |

So what? The highest standard of football is played in the C/L. This is why this competition is what the best should be judged on. |

A little OTT from me but in comparison to Messi and Xavi he doesn't even know the meaning of the word. |

It's quite clear that the whole point of this is to differentiate between "extremely exceptional" players and "extremely, extremely exceptional" players, Gerrard is neither thus he's not as good as Messi or Zidane. You're chatting s**t. Massive misconception, he was consistent in France, and consistent in Madrid but because he didn't do a roulette or didn't glide past 3 players his performances were Zidane - World Cup 2006 knockout stages - Spain, Brazil, Portugal & Italy. Zidane - Euro 2000 - Netherlands, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Portugal & Italy. Some of the greatest teams of their time, immense pressure as a whole nation's expectations are on your shoulder, one chance, one knockout, different conditions, the only player performing exceptionally on the team yet you say it is a poor way of judging Zidane? I know there is no argument, a "s**t" and "pathetic" way to judge a player? Silly. I'll say it again, I watch them in the Champions League, which I mentioned, I watch them in the Euros, which I mentioned, and I watch them in the WC, which I mentioned. I really don't want to be watching a shitty match with very little competition & tactics vs. Getafe. |
