Who do people class as great, good, average and poor managers? I'm thinking mainly Premiership but elsewhere as well if you want. |

for me a good manager is someone who has the ability to improve himself and team. a good communicator and understands the game well. |

I'd say put the managers in the categories you think they belong in. Bera in mind each category is going to be fairly widely defined, i.e. not everyoe the same quality in each one. I'll keep editing this as i think more about it. This is following on from goonie's post about Mancini being an average manager, so i thought this would be an interesting topic for comparison within the league. Great: Ferguson Good: Wenger (i'd have put him in great a while back but I'm not so sure now), Redknapp, Moyes Average: Dalglish Poor: Edited by Stryke, Oct 23 2011, 08:55 PM.

I think Wenger is still a step up from Moyes or Redknapp, Stryke. In terms of tactics, I don't think SAF is great.. |

Thats why i said each category will ave managers of differing standards, otherwise id have to have 20 categories, one for every manager ![]() As i said about Wenger, i'd hve had him right up there not so long ago, but with Arsenal's shortcomings in recent years at least some of the blame has to go towards him rather than the reported financial restrictions being the only reason. I thought he was a difficult one to place. |

Best manager in the league right now imo is SAF, and he's seriously lacking in a few departments. Think AVB will end up being the most complete manager if he stays long enough. |

I didn't put AVB simply because he hasn't been around long enough yet, i still class him as something of an unknown quantity. |

thing is Fergie lacks in a few departments but excels in the most important ones which makes him great. |

wenger is bind to a lot of things, his faith in youth is misguided, plus for me he still living off that unbeaten season. if he would of been at any other club in the league he would of been sacked by now. mancini is a relatively new to the game compared to wenger. hes a strong manager, knows what he wants and how he wants them to play. hes a better tactician as well, although sometimes he can be a bit defensive we have not seen it much this season. hes only going to get better as well |

Mancini is loved for his achievements at City and thats all that matters to us. And at just 46 has years and years of trophies ahead of him. Judging him at 46 is wrong, he should be judged at 55-60 when he's probably done all he can in the game. We know a s**t manager when we see one because we've had more than enough in our time. Only Fergie could deal with the pressure, media and player s**t Mancini has had thrown at him in the last 18-20 months while also keeping things ticking over on the pitch. Doing a great job IMO. |
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro
