...or so he can be according to Mancini.

Let's face it, the guys not short of scoring a few goals in the last few games. Something which he must be happy about after going so long without making much of an impact...on the pitch that is.

Mancini thinks he can, one day, be one of the top 3 footballers like Messi and C. Ronaldo. He's 21 now I think, do you think its possible he can be as good as Messi or Ronaldo? Its certainly something to aspire to if he can control his off pitch behaviour. If he continues to get much better does anyone think he might chip off to Spain or somewhere?

"I don't know what happened about the fireworks," Mancini said. "The important thing is Mario and his friend were OK.

"For today, Mario played very well. If we want to talk about Mario regarding a football player, I put him in the first five players in the world.

"The problem after that is his age, he is young and maybe sometimes can make some mistakes. Like a player, he is incredible. "I didn't see the T-shirt, but it's Mario. This is why our supporters like him, because he's crazy.

"I love him because he's a good guy but next time it's better he keeps his shirt on.

"I hope for him, for football in general, we arrive at the day when Mario has changed his mind completely because with this he could become one of the best three players in the world, like Messi, like Cristiano Ronaldo."

i don't think he will ever be able to get rid of his "immature" side but i think he can still be a great goal scorer just needs to be handled right

Balotelli is obviously not in the same league as Messi and Ronaldo but he is starting to show his quality.

This is just Mancini's way of keeping him on track and his confidence high....like it needs to be higher
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

He really can be the best - pace, power, skill, confidence, finishing, shooting, relative intelligence - he has it within him except from a good mentality thus consistency.

completely agree, the lad will never go far until he really starts believing in himself and gets a bit more self confidence, shys away from the spotlight far too much for my liking.....

Here is the latest version of the song, fully addendumed, annotated, cross-referenced and post-scripted.

Oh Balotelli he's a striker…
He's good at darts(1)/
He's allergic to grass (2) but when he plays/ He's f**king class.
Drives round Moss Side/ with a wallet full of cash(3)/
Can't put on his vest (4)/ But when he does he is the best
Goes into schools (5)/ Tells teachers all the rules
Sets fire to his gaff (6)/ With rockets from his bath
Doesn't give a f**k/ Cos he did it for a laugh
Runs back to his house (7)/ For a suitcase full of cash
Oh Balotelli …

The rules of the song are simple. The action must relate to off-the-pitch incidents (it would never, for example, gloat about the two goals he scored against Manchester United following the fireworks incident). As for the tune, there is none really.

Footnotes

1) In March 2011, Balotelli threw at least one dart in the direction of youth-team players at the club's Carrington training academy. Nobody was hurt. It was a prank.

2) In March 2011, a busy month in Balotelli's blossoming career, it was alleged, probably untruthfully, that he was allergic to grass after suffering such a severe reaction against Dynamo Kyiv that he had to be substituted with a swollen face.

3) In September 2010 police revealed that Balotelli was found with £5,000 in his pocket after smashing his car. He has been known to hand wads of money to homeless people.

4) In March 2011 Balotelli had an astonishing fight with his vest. The vest won.

5) In May 2011 it was revealed that Balotelli took a truanting boy back to school to give bullies and teachers a ticking off.

6) Last week's fireworks were not attempted arson, just a premature bonfire-lnight practice gone wrong.

7) Reports suggested that the striker ran back to save both cash and the suitcase but the suitcase full of cash sounds more Balotelli.

I'm not sure about that at City but at Inter he was incredibly arrogant. I don't care if he'll become the best, he'll be at Milan then.

“The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”
has the potential and the skills but weather or not he has the mentality is a different thing. the way he took his first goal yesterday was top draw, if it would of been say wayne rooney doing it at the other end the world would of gone into over-drive declaring hes the best in the world and his temperament is just as bad as balotellis.
