great read that monty :thumb:

although i dont 100% agree with it because i dont think its a lack of dm thats causing the problems. first of all you have not had your main centre backs together much, theres no settled pairing because of injuries. this is not got going to help you much especially when you have a new keeper who doesnt speak the lingo.
We will concede less when Vidic is back yes. But it is clear from some of teh examples in the OP that the midfield is an absolute disaster. Even with Vidic back and a settled back four they will still be the same disaster.

Also Vidic and Rio are present inthe City and Barca games in the OP.

dont get me wrong the players you have in centre midfield are no where near the standard you would expect of utd. i think you need someone more creative just as much as you need someone to cover the back, this is evident by the amount of attacks utd have down the wings this season. maybe using jones in dm can be a short term fix especially when rio and vidic are back in the team.

games from last season?

Yeah we definietly need both as all our current CMs are basically p***.

The Barca game is the CL final and the City games are the Charity Shield and yesterday.

I honestly dont think its much of a panic yh we do need a new dm Martinez preferably but i think its down to the way fergie has changed our style of play we pretty much have the same team as last season. So I just think its fergie changing the style without the correct players.

monty, i think most teams will struggle against silva and thats why your lack of dm was evident yesterday imo.

who would be the players you want, realistically?

No idea tbh. M'Vila or Martinez. Tbh I think Carrick COULD do it but SAF just doesn't play with a proper DM. I think it is more tactical than personel.

both would be quality additions. maybe its tactical naivety on the players behalf because they are not being trained in this area

Yeah I think it is. Basically our CM works with one going forward and one sitting (generally, but that is forking dinosaur stuff) but when you have Anderson in there he can't get back and help out.

M'Villa got bossed to s**t by Bosnia's midfield. Tbh this season when Carrick has played he's played quite well. With the way we've been playing I think it's right that he gets some more game time as he will slow the game down and not take any risks.

a bit like us tbh with adam and gerrard in the middle against norwich. left bloody gaps all over the place, the only thing that helped us is the lack of pace the pair of them have

red thru and thru.
we need two CMs preferably keane-esq and scoles-esq ;) and a forward, wellbeck, macheda.owen are not good enough, and berba doesnt look like he's needed.
im still not sure about de gea,i prefer lindegaard TBH,and evans/evra have been poor.
i also dont think phelan is the man we need looking after new players, queiroz or maclaren would have done much better.

First off top post Main Kampf.

I agree with the midfield at United being fecked, but I read somewhere (think maybe mcfc posted it?) that United have used 14 combinations in defence so far this season. Once that's settled I don't think things will seem as dire.

I honestly hope Tunnicliffe is given a chance when he comes back from his loan spell. He has such drive and determination he could show a few of the current lads what bottle is. I don't think there is a top drawer DM out there who would be available tbh, Carrick does perfectly well sitting deep when he isn't pressured but turn the pressure on him and we're forked.

I like Lassana Diarra, he's a bit of a diva but the lad shows no rspect for the opposition, he isn't scared to make a challenge, and he is actually not a bad player at all IMO.

We also lack a creative player from midfield, says a lot when Cleverley in his few performances wanted the ball and had no fear in attacking or trying things.

It's not all doom and gloom by any means, but without investment (and lets be fair it's not just been this season we've needed the CM position addressed) we could be left behind.

Good post but Martinez is for me the best DM out there and hes quality. and shouldnt be a problem buying.

I don't watch masses of La Liga so it's hard for me to judge, and I don't like judging to much on a few games.
