But yes, let us not shy away from the fact that you believe a "great defensive & creative player" is elusive.
They are elusive. You have named 3, one of which is currently at the club.

Changing my tune since 2008.
Jones could do the DM role - he's more useful there than on the bench where it seems he's playing behind Ferdinand and Vidic. He has done the role before and it would at least give him some game time.

Jones has played every league game this season as far as I'm aware :S

Including from the subs bench yes. The lad could be playing 90 minutes week in week out though - if he gets full games regularly at his age (and he certainly never burnt out for us!) then it is only going to benefit him in terms of awareness, concentration, fitness and general ability.

The only matches I can't remember him starting are West Brom and City :S he's had plenty of game time. Vidic and Rio were both injured from the first game of the season remember.

As already pointed out though, Jones has only been in the first team due to injuries. Whilst he has made a lot of sub appearances as well, when Ferdinand and Vidic are fit it is hard to see him getting much game time at centre back.

you had the chance to sign the player who could of replaced him this summer but you didnt want to spend that much after spending what you already had
Who?

If you mean Sneijder apparently he wanted £250k a week AFTER tax.
yes i do mean him. he would of been ideal. yes thats hefty wages but he was only reportedly to have asked for that. surely with basic wage, appearance money, competition bonuses and various other incentives utd could of got him close to that mark any way. after all utd have one of the biggest if no the biggest yearly revenue in football
Thing is mate to pay all that money (reports between 30-40M) then a huge contract on top and play a top draw in the hole player (which I think is Rooney' best position by far) and then put him in CM where I'm sure he can play to a good level but not to the maximum of his potential wasn't worth the probable 100M +. SAF thought so by pulling out of the negotiations.

i dont think that would of been a problem if you were not forced into buying jones because of our interest in him. fergie didnt want him until next summer dont forget

Which is why I was surprised he never shifted on another defender ie Evans.

I would have said that at the beginning of the season but based on the performances of Vidic and Ferdinand so far this season, I think Jones could well play in front of them!

yep he was due to injuries which was correct. He couldnt just walk in and be a starter. but due to injuries hes played more games than expected and has staked his claim.

He's played far more games from the start.
