there are no joint positions in the premier league. you either win the title or you come second, you're either in the relegation zone or you're not. You're either second place or third place.

The FA places Chelsea second and City third, the clue was in the number next to the club in the final table, are they wrong?
Yeah but winning and relegation are different they have to be sperate so they need a tie break, same with 4th and what ever the final El positon will be

Every position in the league has different prize money, so a 'tie-break' is needed.

Messi has it won, though I'd laugh my absolute bollocks off if Ronaldo won.

Chelsea finished higher because of a +9 swing on GD.

Anyone think a shock could be on the cards and it won't be a Barca clean sweep?

Also dont tell me i have to explain that when two teams finish on the same points they share the position?
does this mean if a team finishes first on goal difference alone they have to saw the trophy in half? OR 6 months in one trophy cabinet and 6 months in the other.

amazing! i guess there are two handles so you can have different coloured ribbons on each side.

^_^
Nope tie break is only used if something is at stake, look at the Fifa rankings teams share spots, argentina and denmark are currently joint 10th
According to the Premier league City finished 3rd. If the Premier league itself says thats what the final position was, and they make the rules regarding this, then there isn't much wiggle room left for a counter argument there i'm afraid

Edit: Mercedes apparently beat me to it, but whats amazing is that Derry is still arguing with it

Derry i suggest you write an angry letter of complaint to the League and demand they reprint last season's final table for you with the little '=' mark next to Manchester City.

Tie break is only used if GD and points are equal and 1st, 4th or 17th etc is in question.

We did have a decent season, once again written off at the start, we battled away & did pretty well in all the comps. What I was saying was in reply to a city fan anyway, claiming this and that. In comparison to city our season was OK especially when you consider the money spent. Of course, like I also said was it wasn’t a great season for us if you look at us historically.

You think winning the fa cup & finishing a couple of points above us after spending a billion pounds or whatever is good do you? Your having a laugh. Perhaps not actually, it shows our standards compared to the likes of city.

Yes you do have to tell me that actually, as if teams are level on points goals etc count. Thought you were a Liverpool fan? You should have realised that kind of thing when Thomas scored at anfield to shut you all up! So, no. City didn’t finish 2nd at all. Go look up the history books & you can also check where LFC finished that year when Thomas scored !

Try again.......
What does Citys spending have to do with it? Its a known fact that there is money out there for Wenger and he chooses not to use it.

And again spending aside City have gotten to their first ever Cl and won the fa so yeah i would rate that as a very good season.

And yeah if teams are on equal points a tie break will use goal difference etc to seperate the teams, however for 2nd and 3rd with nothing at stake no tie break will take place.

And yeah you may have won one league title there but we still have more titles in our trophy room and some european cups you have never been able to get your hands on :champion:
Money has nothing to do with where a team finishes then... Ok, I'll remember that.

I havent said city had a bad season, indeed I said they had a better one than us, wtf are you going on about?

Go look at the EPL site or indeed any other, it clearly shows City are third.

Well done for harping on about liverpools history, id rather have a future ;)
