Suppose you could class Lee Sharpe in this. Sold by Fergie at only 25, with the right attitude he could've been one of the best.
Didn't realise he was sold so young tbh.

One of those players who thought he'd made it and stopped trying to get better.

Was still quality in patches anf his goal against Barca was superb.
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

Yeah Bentley looked like being a top top player when he first arrived on the scene, but then turned into a pure journeyman. Vela and Bendtner will end up the same I suspect.

I can only really say Babel for us . We havent had that many good young players at liverpool since I started watching them regulary . He never really gave it his all with us when he played. He should have been alot more effective than he was

Again, I don't think that's quite in line with the thread.

Not sure if it counts, but Mikel looked top draw when he first came on the scene and h hasnt really improved

I think Mourinho ruined him a bit by making him just a DM whos job was to break up play

For me Steven Ireland has been a disappointment.

I dont think he was treated particularly well in his last days at City but i think he brought about his own downfall by criticising Mancini's approach and seemed to fail to see the bigger picture and his future in it. He didn't like or thrive off Mancini's tough love approach, much the same as Adam johnson is struggling with now. I think Ireland has the ability to be truely top class if his attitude doesn't get in the way.
He has been awful at Villa and Newcastle and needs to sort himself out or he'll waste a promising career imo.

I'd nominate Nicklas Bendtner. Could have been an Arsenal legend but ended up disappearing up his own arse and is now wasting away at Sunderland.

Thy Riots come, read it in the sun

Give us this day our welfare bread & forgive us our looting,
as we're happy to loot those who defend stuff against us
Lead us not into employment but deliver us free housing,
for thine is the teles, the Burberry & the Barcardi, forever and ever...Innit !!!!

Emiliano Insua. I thought he could have had it all. Quick strong and good technique but he never improved his positional sense and turned into Duke Nukem. Such a waste.

Have you got a clip of Bentley's first goal for Arsenal against Middlesborough? 2004 FA Cup I think. Was a forking great goal but can't find it anywhere.
