Agree with this. A team that's won 3 league titles in over 50 years can not be classed as a giant. Only been in one European final in their history as well. |

Hardly mate 1 League title and a couple of cups in ( or whatever it was) isnt quite the same as what Liverpool & Utd have achieved. Indeed its not even up their with Villa, the Yids, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Im not saying you are a small club, you never have been, but come on. Kepp it real

For those who struggled to understand my point - I didn't say Liverpool have had it hard, but they haven't been top of the tree for a while now. Some cups here and there is hardly what football fans of 20 years ago would have expected. For such a big club, they've been underachieving in the league. Yet they still have an appeal, a prestige. Younger Man United supporters, the fortunate ba5tards, don't know what it's like to win nothing for years and years so it's harder to test them and use them as an example. City is growing, no doubt. But for now, it's a medium sized club with a large owner and that's very different to being a big club. I think it's something you can't buy like that tbh because if more billionaires started buying Premier League clubs and splashing around the cash, City wouldn't stand out anymore. |

Ok, I'll bite! Yes, we've only won 3 titles in 50 years, but we've also won 3 titles in 7 years! Statistic huh? Add to that, 5 FA Cups in 14 years. 3 League Cups in 13 years and just to correct you, we've won the Euro Cup Winners Cup twice, to add to our CL Final appearance as well as winning a Euro Super Cup. We're one of only 5 English teams to have won the domestic double. Are we a football giant? Well, I would imagine that we're regarded as so by pretty much every supporter outside of the UK who have followed football over the last 10 years or so, but we'll always have to contend with British supporters who cite history and honours over 50 years(!) rather than during most of our life times! Are City are mega club? Probably not yet, but at the rate they're going, it won't be long. |

Blackburn Rovers are one of only 4 clubs to win the Prem title, look at us now, forked!!!! Man City are not giants in football, any team can have its time and reach the top. It's staying there that counts |

There aren't many 'giant' clubs out there. In England, theres only United and Liverpool. Then you have Bayern Munich, Juventus, AC Milan, Ajax, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan plus I'm probably forgetting 2 or 3 others |

Ok fair enough point but i did say 'considered a CL Giant by most' and by that i mean they are one of the favorites every year. They are regarded as a massive club on the continent....peoples opinions of what constitutes a Giant club vary anyway, as we are seeing. I know this thread isnt about finances as such but they have been mentioned quite a few times...and seem to be the foundation of almost everyones gripe. Barca, Real, Liverpool, United to name a few are modern day Giant clubs no question...but when you drill down into it, Real and Barca share something like 90% of all Spanish tv money as well as being globally supported. United & Liverpool share something like 500m supporters worldwide, sky tv has rocketed both clubs into a commercial league of their own...a different planet almost. I'm not saying that the trophies haven't been earned because they have but you have to sometimes question the grips of supporters who's clubs are also funded by outside income from foreign lands. The playing field isn't always as even as its made appear. City are no different and nothing new just our money comes from a single foreign point. If football has evolved then City are purely a byproduct of its commercial evolution and we wont be the last for sure. Time will tell if City will ever become a Giant club but there will always be people who will say were not and i'd seriously doubt any of us will be posting here if or when it happens, i hope to have a life by then!...plus i'm 96 ffs, times not on my side

Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro
