Most people didnt hear about it until they were there so i think it was right to play it. Speed would have wanted it played imo |

It was a fairly dull atmosphere but as crouchy said it was swans vs villa, hard to tell if the news had an effect on the game really |

Not enough notice to cancel it imo. If news had broken several hours earlier it could have been different. |

I dont believe the game should have been cancelled even with hours/days notice. The world goes on and neither of these teams had any direct link to Speed. |

Would have been a closer run thing if it was someone like Newcastle ![]() Can't remember the last time an EPL game has been cancelled (other than Spurs during the London riots). |

of course it was going to be a subdued atmosphere. there were atleast 6 or 7 players from our team alone that had connections of some sort with speed. almost all of the swansea players would have and it was played in a stadium where 90% of the fans would have been hit hard by hearing the news of a national icons(?) death. personally dont think it should have been played, dont think anyone in that stadium would have moaned if the game had been postponed but i understand why it wasnt. |

hard 1 2 call, ashley williams said that it would of been speeds wishes to let the game be played, i found out 30 mins before kick off and tbh i was more glued to sky news than the game,my mate found out walking into the stadium and was in shock he said he couldnt take in any of the game, alot of fans of the swans forum said result didnt matter its just a game of football wales had just lost there fav son. also john hartson was in the stadium doing some work and had to go home when he found out. |

I think the game should have gone ahead. It was too short notice to cancel. There were probably plenty of people who had already made the journey. I think if the players felt they couldn't/wouldn't be able to play to the best of their ability then maybe it should have been postponed. No one would have complained I dont think. I'm sure everyone would have understood. I didn't watch the game so I'm not sure if it affected the play of any of the players but I think if players didnt want to play then thats fair enough. Mostly because the news was quite fresh at the time of the game and I'd understand if the players who were close to him like Given and some of the Swansea players couldn't get on the pitch so soon. |

Of course it should have been played, people die all the time. That might sound harsh to some & I understand why people think my view is nasty. IMO most lives are equal, there will families up and down the country suffering loss. |
