Scott Parker seems to be a very common name :S
He bravely (so so bravely) put himself forward for the role 3 times. What a hero

hard one, there isn't really a stand out player.

Agree with Jimmy's theory not Englands Brave brave brave Scott Parker...

Would probably be Joe Hart, and definitely not Wayne Rooney.

Despite the pi55 taking, I would go with Parker (no, really!).

There are no stand out options that are both ready now and would realistically hold the job for the nest few years, but is that really important? Why do we have to chose someone who will still be around in 5 years time when there are two major tournaments in the next 2.5 years?

Parker is the best English DM in the PL at the moment (and yes, he's brave!),probably has been for the last 18 months and probably will be for the next 18 months. I think there's also a good argument not to give it to a member of the old guard and to use the current situation as an opportunity to sweep clean, so to speak.
Trying to get an accurate picture of reality, even when that's unpleasant or inconvenient!

, don't agree with this rubbish suggesting a keeper can't be a good captain
i think hart would make a good captain, but i do agree it isnt a good idea for a keeper to be captain.
its difficult to encourage other players on the pitch when your not up or cant get up with the play, also the rule about only captains being allowed to confront a ref would be a liittle dificult for a keeper,if its up the other end all the time.

Agree.

Joe Hart has the respect of the players but how much can you influence from goal?

Keepers are under enough pressure and already have the hardest position on the pitch without adding the Captains armband to it.

Parker, Milner, Barry are not vocal enough to be considered i think, Rooney still doesn't have the temperamant, Lampard & Ferdinand are looking past it so only leaves Gerrard IF he can stay fit?

Fork knows who it will be tbh???
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

I think it should be Gerrard.

England need a senior member of the squad to lead them into the Euro's and Gerrard is the only senior member, I believe is actually capable of leading a team that is a guaranteed starter
